nick643 2 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Since upgrading to 4.8.0.80 (on Windows 11) I have been having application crashes in Emby server. I have reinstalled Emby clean (same libraries) on the Windows 11 box and the problem has continued. Task manager shows Emby is no longer running after the app crash event is logged. When the server is restarted it goes for about 12-24 hours before crashing again. Not much to see in the logs as they just stop when the app crashes Any suggestions would be appreciated. Luke 42080 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 @nick643as a test, can you try removing the auto-organize plugin. Then restart the server and see if it happens again. Thanks.
nick643 2 Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 Thanks Luke I have uninstalled the auto-organize plugin and restarted the emby server (not the windows 11 machine) and I will let you know what happens 1

Luke 42080 Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 Are you sure that's all that's in windows event viewer?
nick643 2 Posted February 12, 2024 Author Posted February 12, 2024 Luke, I have attached screen captures to show the event log for the time and the event, the other windows logs don't show anything regarding emby or even failures (or warnings around the app crash event time) Happy to provide other logs if you let me know what you want
nick643 2 Posted February 13, 2024 Author Posted February 13, 2024 Today no event logged for the application crashing but its not showing in task manager now and is obviously saying "This site can't be reached" on the local host and not working on other devices embyserver.txt
Neminem 1519 Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 It look like you backup is misconfigured. I will suggest placing your Emby backup somewhere else. *** Error Report *** Version: 4.8.1.0 Command line: C:\Users\ngoul\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.22631 Framework: .NET 6.0.26 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: C:/Users/ngoul/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 8 Data path: C:\Users\ngoul\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application path: C:\Users\ngoul\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\undefined\embyserver-backup-full' is denied. at System.IO.FileSystem.CreateDirectory(String fullPath, Byte[] securityDescriptor) at System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(String path) at Emby.Server.Implementations.IO.ManagedFileSystem.CreateDirectory(String path) at MBBackup.ServerEntryPoint.ExecuteBackup(PluginConfiguration configuration, CancellationToken cancellationToken, IProgress`1 progress) at Emby.Server.Implementations.ScheduledTasks.ScheduledTaskWorker.ExecuteInternal(TaskOptions options) Source: System.Private.CoreLib TargetSite: Void CreateDirectory(System.String, Byte[])
nick643 2 Posted February 13, 2024 Author Posted February 13, 2024 I know the backup is not configured I didn't bother after the clean rebuild I did after emby became unusable due to the upgrade to 4.8 I have removed the backup plug in now so it can hopefully be eliminated from the picture
nick643 2 Posted February 13, 2024 Author Posted February 13, 2024 Just checked and its pulled down a single update for defender, it also offers preview for 23H2.
nick643 2 Posted February 15, 2024 Author Posted February 15, 2024 Do you want me to keep posting the logs each time Emby stops working - I only notice now in the morning as I have pretty much given up on it due to its unreliable nature since the upgrade

Luke 42080 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 I saw that you rebuilt your server. Thanks for the update. Apologies for the disruption.
