Downloads not going into External Storage

Hi,

Any thoughts on what would cause Downloads for offline use to not be saved into External Storage (SD or Downloads) even though it was set as such? I set in Settings > Android > Downloads, but it is still being saved to internal storage instead.

Thank you!

Apologies, looks like everything is fine. Downloads are going to External.

I do have another question, however. Is it possible to manually add offline downloads on Android? Is there a scan function I'm missing, perhaps? I added a movie in its folder aside the downloads, bit it didn't show up and why I ask.

Thanks for following up. We don't have that feature to discover existing media on the device but it's something we are interested in looking at in the future.

"External Storage (Downloads)" goes to "Internal Storage (Downloads)"  on my TCL 6102H Android 12 (32GB internal, 256GB external)

Hi @Luke,

"External Storage (Downloads)" going to "Internal Storage (Downloads)"  is not ideal ....not least in that the result doesn't match the wording...I seem to remember different flavours of this issue as the Emby android client and Android OS has developed..Seems like the storage behaviour is difficult for the Emby app to predict...or perhaps the OS doesn't make it easy?

In case it matters. my external storage is a physically separate SD card I have inserted [permanently] into the phone's SD card reader.

One issue, which i haven't completely gotten to the bottom of in terms of understanding myself is around the way that later android versions restrict access to the Emby OS folders (outside of Emby App)...Users Getting to "Downloads" e.g. with File Explorer Apps...seems approved/supported.....Users getting to Emby's "Storage"  (in the OS folders rather than 'Downloads') seems very restricted on Android 12 (even when giving apps "storage" permission....)

So because when troubleshooting and sometimes using media, i like to use external APPs ...It would be preferred if "External Storage (Downloads)" worked.

That said not a high priority. Especially if its a rare issue peculiar to my phone...

It is virtualized by the OS, so it is external to the app, but in reality, the OS could end up putting it anywhere.
