brandon6976 2 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Hello, just yesterday I upgraded to 4.8.0.80, everything overall seems fine. However I often go to reports, go to media/episodes, and then filter and choose missing episodes. This would cut the list down to only the missing TV episodes. Now the checkbox does nothing and I can't see if there are missing episodes.
pwhodges 2012 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Missing episodes are no longer shown in sequence. There is now a new entry at the bottom of the three-dot menu for a series or a season which will generate a list of missing episodes. As I recall, it has been moved for performance reasons - doing the search only when requested saves time elsewhere. Paul

Paul So does the report plug-in need to be updated so it can grab the missing episodes?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Pretty sure when @Lukechanged how Missing Episodes are shown in the UI and database changes this queries in the plugin need to be updated.
Luke 42078 Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 I'm going to add the View Missing Episodes context menu option to TV libraries. This will allow you to see missing episodes for an entire library without having to use the reports plugin. 1

Does this mean there is functionally no practical way to see missing episodes currently? Is there a timeline when this feature would work again? It was a very big feature for me so i'm a bit frustrated that it's not working all of a sudden.

What I'm talking about would be the same data you were seeing before in the reports plugin, but just a different place to view it.

Understood, is this something that would be available soon? Is there a workaround I can use meantime?

I have a lot of shows, it would make it a part time job to scroll through everything and do that.

So we have to wait for Luke to recreate one as I don't see a way looking at the endpoints in Swagger.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 (edited) Guess you just query the library folder. You will end up doing more than one query if you have more than one library. http://localhost:8096/emby/Shows/Missing?ParentId=YOURLIBRARYID&IncludeSpecials=false&IncludeUnaired=false&api_key=YOURAPIKWY Not as pretty as the UI Table but you have your list. When I type in that and I replace the ParentID with the library name I get an error that says Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes (xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).

I only get that is I mess up the libraryid. As I ran that query against each TV library without issue.

If you are on localhost poke around the API in from the link at the bottom of the dashboard.
scsherman 2 Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 I know this may make me a pesky user, but over the years the ability to see Missing Episodes has been broken multiple times. You used to be able to quickly sort from the main UI and see what was missing. That was broken and the Reports "feature" added. Although clunky and not as good, it worked. The menus in Reports have been broken from updates at times. Now the feature is broken again and a new feature that sounds a lot like the original way of doing it is promised. Why does it keep changing and breaking? Is there a better way to organize my media and see what is missing that other people use? I am willing to adapt and change, but do appreciate a simple manual way to do it within Emby.

It seems like a weird strategy to tell your users that have used your software for over a decade that they should now install a different software to do something that you used to do.

I'm not telling you anything, just advising that there's dedicated software for tracking your shows/missing episodes as opposed to a nice-to-have (for certain subset of users, personally always found it completely unnecessary) gimmick in your media server. But we each have different preferences, I understand some users would like for it to return in previous iteration (though I doubt that'll happen due to db improvements it's removal brought with), related beta-cycle topic from the time change was introduced: 1

It's a must have. If all my content is on my server, having to entire all of those show again in another app is an unnecessary pain.
