4.8.080 update frustrations

So like so many 4.8.080 update blew up my installs.

I manually updated and it started working, but now I have other issues which were never a problem before.

1) I have 3 servers.  A main, a backup, and a remote.  Emby client on both fire stick and Shield TV used to on startup allowed me to pick which emby server to connect to.  Now, ot wants to connect to only the last one used - how do I get it to list the servers again?  Right now to connect to another one I have to manually connect and reenter all the info.

2) I sync all my files between servers.  I would then use Backup and restore to restore just the users playlists and recently watched.

Since the update it only seems to want to restore all the settings as well as playlists and watched.  The problem is then I have to go back in after a restore to put that particular servers settings back to where they need to be (Network settings, server name, ect). Also there's users on the main server I don't need or want on the remote one as they will never use it.  This feels like a significant loss of functionality.

Hi, have you tried the change server function in the app? You should be able to get to it by clicking the user icon from the home screen.

Hi, we are working on getting this into the new incarnation of the backup plugin. For now, this feature has been extracted into a separate plugin that you can use temporarily:

Yes I have and I have to manually enter the information for the server I want to connect to.  The regular android mobile app shows all the previous servers, but not the one in the shield tv or fire stick.

"IPad" app also seems to suffer this same issue with losing servers and connecting to the wrong one.

Let me describe the situation a little better in more detail and give an update on what is happening:

The Restore only play and watch lists using the legacy plugin is working great - Thank you. This allows me to restore just what was watched between locations for specific users.

Main Site - 2 Emby Servers - 1 Called Video (Windows), 1 Called Video Backup (Windows).
Remote Site -1 Emby Servers - 1 Called Video (Windows).

Video is the server which is used by the family.  Video Backup is there and user information replicated because if I'm traveling and video goes down, all everyone goes nuts.  It's one thing to lose just a few days of what was watched since the last time I restored the lists to it, it's another if they can't get to any of it at all.
Video 2 is used by myself when I travel. I probably do about 30% of my personal watching using video 2. The Family also occasionally travels to the remote site with me as well. (This is also why being able to backup and restore only selected users between sites is very important).

At the main site use FireTV Sticks and Nvidia Shield TV to watch.
At Remote Site we use Nvidia Shield TV and Macbook's to watch.

Sites are all connected via a site to site VPN.

The Apps at the main site has the ability to connect to Video, Video Backup, and Video 2.

The Apps at the remote site has the ability to connect ot Video 2, and Video

My Network settings have my 2 networks in the Lan Network entry so both sites can use the other sites servers.

Local IP Address is defined for each server using the server's IP address.

Allow Remote Connections to this Emby server is unchecked.

All DLNA settings are disabled.

Now onto the problem:

Since the update the Apps at the main site want to connect to Video Backup and not Video by default if Video Backup is up and running.  Even though Video was the one that was last logged into.

With both Video AND Video backup running, Video does not show up in the server list when I select change server, I have to manually connect to it each time.  If I stop emby on Video Backup, and manually connect to Video, then the apps will connect to Video by default and not Video Backup, meaning my only option is to leave video backup offline which defeats the purpose of it operating as a hot spare.

I have not tested the remote site yet as will not be there for about 2 more weeks, but needless to say, I'm bit concerned.

Hi.  In the app "Startup" settings, select "Show logon screen".

That is selected already, it only brings up the user list and not the list of servers.  It also logs into the incorrect one most of the time.  I then have to change servers and enter the correct one's information manually.

This sounds like maybe your server is not reporting the proper address.  Are the addresses on the dashboard correct?

Yes they are correct.

I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that after emby blew up I had to re-install.  After the reinstalls everywhere to get Emby back up and running, I ran a backup from Video and restored it to all the servers trying to get my playlists in sync (which was the default built in restore), then went back in and updated the network settings and display names.

The reason why I'm now wondering is because I stopped video backup and loaded Emby on my Terramaster NAS.  Restored only playlists and now the NAS is showing up correctly along with Video and I am seeing the server list as part of the login screen.

And it looks like the restore I did may have been the core of all my issues with the app finding the incorrect server.    So even though I had unchecked "Restore Server id" it seems some where else there was enough restored to cause me issues.

After reloading the Backup server from scratch, recreating the user accounts, and restoring just their play/watch lists, everything seems to be working as it should.

Right we probably could have helped with your original issue to avoid the uninstall reinstall altogether, but at this point what's done is done.

Just keep in mind that when you uninstall and reinstall, that becomes a new server installation, and although you're aware of it, Emby apps are not going to be and this may require you to do a one-time manual connection in the apps to get connected to the new server.

Yes I am aware of that.  I needed this to just work at this point, and since I have pretty much everything local to the server, rebuilding is not very painful for me.

Thank you all for the input and assistance.  Especially the way to just restore the user's watchlist.
