Home videos no longer gets generated thumbnail image (video poster)

Hello,

I noticed my home made videos no longer gets generated thumbnail. They get generated chapters preview image though. This is happening across all libraries configured for home video. I have noticed they all had disabled Image fetcher checkbox, so I enabled but doesn't seem to do anything (after hour so far). Any idea what might be causing the problem? Thanks!

HI, try refreshing the metadata on them and see if that helps generate an image.

I have exactly the same issue since updating to 4.8.0.80 - I have enabled the check box and refreshed the metadata with the replace all images checked and its still not showing a thumbnail. Chapter images are being displayed though.

I can confirm refreshing the metadata doesn't fix the issue. I tried refreshing it and replacing the current images, same issue. In my case this is happening with my personal videos.

Hi! Just tagging in to notice the same problem with my latest update, might need to downgrade meanwhile. Chapter images also working fine

I'm seeing this as well on server v4.8.0.80

 

A recently added file that doesn't match any TVDB/TheMovieDB items has not generated a thumbnail. It has created chapter images, just not a thumbnail for the 'primary' field.

Other items in the same library that don't match TheMovieDB have thumbnails generated by the previous server version. No changes to the libraries settings between updates.

 

I've restarted the server for a fresh log, then refreshed metadata checking 'replace existing images'. @LukeI've pm'ed you that log, but it doesn't show much unfortunatly.

I am seeing the same issue.

• Refreshing metadata doesn't fix.
• Scanning libraries doesn't fix.
• Stopping/starting server doesn't fix.
• Rebooting PC doesn't fix.

The original post @MacGyver27  raised was about home video library. It looks like other people are having issues with the Series/Movie libraries. I am encountering the same as @MacGyver27 with my home movies library. My TV and Movie libraries are fine.

Ah. Nothing is checked (and i have no idea what, if anything, was checked prior to the server update).

You need enable "Image Capture" if you want Emby to generate and image for you.  But you will have to verify the options you want enabled on the library like writing nfo files and Preview images, where you want images stored.

I don't recall ever seeing it before and It's disabled on all my libraries. (I'd made no changes between updates and previously images were being generated as expected)

 

Enabling it for the affected libraries has resolved my issue. The 'primary' image now gets generated from the video if none are found by other fetchers. (make sure to move it to the bottom of the list for that)

Technically no but it was a different name so I will guess there was an issue with the update mapping the feature.

I have refreshed the metadata; I have configured the library; but does not make any difference.

There are errors in the log in fetching the thumbnails. Can I PM you the log ? PM with log sent to you.
