What can I do about this ?

Tried restarting Emby, no luck.

A picture is worth a 1000 words.

HI, do you have more than one copy of these videos?

No, only 1 of each.

This issue started sometime this afternoon, everything looked normal this morning and before (no dupes).

Look again at the capture, before there was 3 pics, it was confusing (my bad), now its clear to see all Continue Watching episodes are displayed twice.

How many emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths did you add to each one?

That would be 10 libraries I created, the last 2, Collections and Playlists were autocreated by Emby

Please note the number of libraries and their respective details and paths have remained unchanged for 6 years +.

I have been following proper folder structure and naming convention from day 1.

Emby server runs on a dedicated pc named SRVRv2, which holds all my media

For movies and tv series, I am using DrivePool

\\SRVRV2\D\Movies\A\(one sub folder per movie)\media

\\SRVRV2\D\Films\(one sub folder per movie)\media

\\SRVRV2\E\TV Series\(one sub folder per serie\season x\media

\\SRVRV2\E\Séries TV\(one sub folder per serie\season x\media

\\SRVRV2\Q\Concerts\Music shows\(one sub folder per movie)\media

\\SRVRV2\Q\Concerts\Spectacles musique (fr)\(one sub folder per movie)\media

\\SRVRV2\Q:\Videoclips\Music Videos\ (media no sub folder)

\\SRVRV2\Q\Videoclips\Vidéos Musicaux\(media no sub folder)

\\SRVRV2\Q\Spectacles\Spectacles humour\(one sub folder per movie)\media

\\SRVRV2\Q\Photos\ yyyy\(media no sub folder)

From Home Page, I go to My Media/TV Shows/Suggestions

Please note those same episodes display normally over here, as opposed to Home page/Continue Watching

Was there heavy scanning activity following the update? Because if there wasn't, then I think it's more likely that these duplicates were in the database to begin with, but they just weren't showing in 4.7.

Also if you use any plugins like top picks or watch history, they are known to cause this, so remove those.

I haven't noticed any heavy scanning activity recently,

The last Emby update took place 2 days before (feb 2nd),

while this issue suddenly appeared feb 4th around noon.

As soon as I watch a random serie episode for 5 mins or more, it appears (displayed in dupe) in Continue Watching.

I do not use those plugins, are there any other that could be culprit? I have a pretty short list.

Any ideas why this affect only tv episodes (movies or any other media aren't).

Then my guess would be that the data was always there, but just not getting displayed before. If all of this was getting freshly inserted into the database, then you would have noticed the activity in the scans.

What you could do is remove the tv library from the server, run a scan of all libraries to clean out the database, and then add it back.

In the media folder, I have the .nfo's file for Emby, do I leave those alone (hopefully) or do they need to be deleted (please tell me no) ?

Yea you can keep those there.

Problem is gone, the Continue Watching feature now behaves as expected.

Problem is back, it originally affected my english TV Shows library (those are fine now),

now its my french TV series that shows dupes in Continue Watching.

I deleted the affected library, scan all libraries, then added the french tv show library,

but to no effect.

Hi, are you still having an issue with this?

Hi, are you still having an issue with this?

Unfortunately yes.

As I just said in my previous post, my main English TV shows library is now OK,

now its my smaller French TV show library that is affected.

Here's a new twist: one of the episodes is displayed with a blank thumbnail

If you edit the metadata on the duplicate and the original, what file is shown?

The blank thumbnail, when I edit MD, shows an old obsolete file path that doesn't exist anymore.

Obviously it can't be played (doesn't find the stream error), but it also refuse to be deleted, as it can't find the path.

I again tried the previous solution, that is remove the affected library / scan libraries.

This removes the good dupe from view, but leaves the invalid dupe in Continue Watching.

When I recreate the library, the working dupe with thumbnail re-appear.

If I perform a vacuum database, would it help getting rid of ghost library ?

So now the duplicate is the same path, or still an obsolete one?

still obsolete.

At the moment, my affected library is removed from Emby, I haven't add it it back yet, and I still have ghost duplicate (with obsolete path) displayed under Continue Watching.

A few hours after I posted my last post, the "ghost duplicate" was not displayed anymore.

I believe the affected library was removed for 3 days before dupe disappeared.

Maybe Emby needs some time to clear cache (?).

In any case, as soon as I add back the TV library, both valid and duplicate episodes are back.

Very strange. Not sure what happened but I'm glad to hear that. Thanks.

Haha, I think you skipped the last line, as at that time point, the problem was still present.

But it seems like I found a workaround. I ended up renaming the tv folder to its former name, the one that shows up in the ghost duplicate.

I have a theory why it happened: Old and new path might have been too much similar to Emby's taste.

Old path: \\Srvrv2\e\TV Series FR

New path: \\Srvrv2\e\TV Séries FR
