Same here and I think that my Emby install IS in the default location.  A little snip from the log (I will post a full log later when I am at the server location):

I restarted the server, went to music and did a multi-select of various tracks/songs.  Added to a new playlist called Gym. It created the playlist but it is empty. I have done this multiple times, I think multiple different ways, etc.  Everything else in the upgrade seemed to go smoothly, just went to use one of my old playlists and they were gone so tried the above to re-create.  I will dig further about converting the older xml playlists to the new m3u style as some of them had hundreds and hundreds of entries (80s hits and 90s hits for example).

Thank you for any insight/help.

@jellis413what is the full path of the song that you tried to add to the gym playlist?

A few options:

D:\Media\Music\MP3\Metallica\(1986) - Master of Puppets\Metallica - Master of Puppets - 01 - Battery (MP3-320 320 kbps)

D:\Media\Music\Mp3\Lil Wayne\(2011) - Tha Carter IV\Lil Wayne - Tha Carter IV - 04 - 6 Foot 7 Foot (MP3-320 320 kbps).mp3

D:\Media\Music\Mp3\NWA\(1988) - Straight Outta Compton\N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton - 01 - Straight Outta Compton (MP3-320 320 kbps).mp3

D:\Media\Music\Mp3\House Of Pain\(1992) - House of Pain\House of Pain - House of Pain - 02 - Jump Around (MP3-320 320 kbps).mp3

D:\Media\Music\Mp3\Metallica\(1988) - …and Justice for All\Metallica - …and Justice for All - 02 - …and Justice for All (MP3-320 320 kbps).mp3

There were others but I think those were the ones that I added when that log was created.  Thanks.

OK looking into it. Thanks.

The new update has resolved my issue.  I have not had a chance to look at the changelog yet to see if there was an update to playlists or if it just fixed it (maybe something went wrong with the 4.7.x to 4.8.x on my end?).

So that part is resolved. Is there a way to convert (automatically, manually, with 3rd part software, etc) my old playlists to the new format and have them recognized in Emby again?  A couple of them are no big deal, I can do those manually but we like the 80s hits, 90s hits, etc. that have hundreds and hundreds of entries.

Let me know when you can.  Thank you.

xml playlists get converted during the 4.7 to 4.8 upgrade. If you have other xml playlists lying around that you want to convert, there's currently no way to do that.

thanks for the answer.  In my case they did not get converted. I just have the xml playlists that were there in 4.7.x and were not there when the upgrade to 4.8 happened.  Maybe I can try to do something with a 4.7.x portable and then upgrade that to see if I can get them back.  Thanks for the answer (even if it wasnt the one I was wanting to hear).

They have to be in the 4.7 database, meaning showing up when browsing around. The upgrade process isn't looking for xml files to convert, it's looking for playlists in the database. So yea you could do that with portable. Just make sure they show up in 4.7 first.

Got it.  Will mess with it when I have some time.  Thanks.
