What does the "display" choice actually do?

I was wondering, actually i have been wondering for quite a while, what the various "display" options actually do.
The choices i see are:
Auto:
Desktop:
Mobil/tablet:
TV:

There are some obvious differences like in TV mode the display of and the ability to change favorite status disappears as well as the cog link to settings.

I am pretty sure there are a lot of other differences but i cannot seem to locate where they are listed.

A link to the correct article is all I really need but an explanation would be much appreciated as well.

It is not really important but my curiosity bump is throbbing more than a little.

Thanks.

Hi, TV mode optimizes the display for 10ft usage with a remote control and gives that use case priority when it comes to all design decisions.

Desktop/mobile do the same but prioritizing for a mouse or touch input.

But is there no documentation anywhere that I have found that details what is changed/done. I figured out what you said easily but it seems to do a LOT more than what you say and I think it would be good to know what the differences are, exactly.

There's no way we're going to document all of the differences. I think it's one of those things where you'll just have to try it out.
