gihayes 47 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Since the 4.8 update, When using the MS Edge browser on Win 11, the right side of the screen does not have the list of alphabets used to quickly jump to media starting with a particular letter. It does not appear for any of my libraries. I've tested on two computers. The list does appear when using Chrome on Win 11, the Emby app on Android, or Safari on the iPad tho'. Is there some setting I haven't seen. 1

What is the sort order in your Edge? 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) For Edge - Turn on the Dev Console - are there any errors reported ? CTRL + SHIFT + I I use Edge myself and don't see any issues. Edited February 4, 2024 by rbjtech 1
visproduction 315 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 I use this custom css to make that alpha list more visible. .alphaPickerButton-vertical { font-size: 17px !important; position:relative; left: 5px; } I also use 3 other versions of this style for two mobile sizes and mobile widescreen. I'm happy to list those as well, but you didn't mention this as an issue in this post.

I have reported several times that I have no alpha picker viewing any photo library in the photos mode. The folder view has an alpha picker that works but i would like one in the photo view on my computer. This happens on several different browsers that i have tested but the alpha picker is there on all clients including my Rokus and Fire sticks. I do not "need" the alpha picker but it would be nice if it worked correctly for me. Thank you for any help.
Luke 42081 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 In the dev and beta level Chromium--based browsers you might not be seeing the a-z picker. I've noticed this as well. 1
visproduction 315 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) Gil, Turning alpha on for a different sort is done through .js code and you cannot easily add any additional .js code to the media server. If you found a way to add the alpha sorter for photos inside the js code, then it would stop working again on whatever update, included an update to that js file. So, it's not a good option, besides being very difficult to do. My style code just adjusts the alpha list for title sort which already should have the alpha list on and running. I hope that makes sense. Edited February 4, 2024 by visproduction

I've noticed this as well. Except I am NOT using anything but the standard Chrome browser at this time and I specifically do not use either the beta or dev releases. I just use the regular release. Also this problem appears in FireFox, which I no longer much use, and that is about as far from Chrome as it gets. But I have resigned myself to this never getting fixed since I reported it quite a while ago and it was apparent from the responses I got that I was not believed or was simply too stupid to know what I was seeing. I have developed workarounds for what I need to do but I believe the whole photo display section needs rewriting or at least thoroughly debugged. That is also unlikely as there are much more glamourous things to work on.
