no backdrop for movies or movie genre menu

Hello,

Been able to fill out most of mbc with the backdrops and primary images using the web interface image/meta data editor.   The only menus I can't seem to get to show up with a backdrop are the two main menus in the chocolate skin, Movies & Movies by genre.

The movies menu goes to a folder with the same folder structure as my media NAS, and in it are three sub folders:  Blu-ray, hd-dvd, & dvd.   Navigating to this folder in the web browser, I can  upload  backdrop & primary images for these folders, and the three sub folders use them, but the main Movies folder does not work as I would like.    What happens is the backdrop image becomes  the main mbc screen's backdrop, when I hover over the Movies menu & the primary image shows up as a small image on the right side of the main screen.   This in itself is o.k, but when I click on the Movies folder to navigate to the lower subfolders, that backdrop is a blank/black screen….and I can't seem to figure out how to get a backdrop in there.

I've tried following the infodoc posted on the IBN directory, by creating  General/Movies in there and populating it with a backdrop.jpg,  but it has no effect…don't really think this directory is needed since the web interface can get to and update the Movies folder, but wanted to try anyway.   The server & client have been stop/started multiple times in the process of looking for a solution.

As the title states I am having the same problem with the movie by genre menu, but have only done minimal testing to see if I can fix that.  Since the media NAS is already broken up by genre's, its going to be the normal path to movies,  the missing images in the movies by genre is not as high a priority, but thought the two issues may be related.

Any ideas on what might be going on, and how I can get a backdrop in these menus?

Thanks,

the issue with movie by genre was fixed by properly setting up the IBN General/"Movies by Genre"  folder.   Doing the same with the movies folder is not working.   I am starting to think that it may be conflict in naming..   The folder on my NAS that this problem is happening in is labeled "movies"….maybe mbc is using the default name of Movies and my NAS having the same name for its upper level folder may be problematic.

Once you enter the "Movies" folder, what view is set there?

In most views, the backdrop shown will be the one that is associated with the currently selected item.  So, if you go into "Movies" then one of your sub-folders will be the currently selected item and the backdrop shown will be the one for that item.

***Edit*****   so I just re-read your post and see there was a big old  question right there at the top, about which view the movies folder was set to….not real familiar with the terms and mistook view as another term for folder.  The view is set to the default of coverflow.  Since you asked, I decided to see if changing the view had any effect on the problem, then noticed the backdrop icon in the view configuration menu, that toggles backdrop's on/off.   I guess when I was navigating through the configuration menu's a few months back after first installing mbc, I must have hit the toggle off button for this individual menu.  Once I clicked the backdrop icon, the movie's folder started working as expected and showing the backdrop for the selected sub folder.    Thanks for the nudge into the right direction on the problem.   Really appreciate the application, looking really slick after adding  folder backdrops.

****end of edit*********

o.k. that makes sense, and what I see for everything except when in the movies folder.   When movies is selected in the main folder, the backdrop cycles between the two backdrop files uploaded for movies using the web browser meta editor.   When in the movies folder there is a blank backdrop regardless of which of the three sub-folders (Bluray, Dvd, HDDVD) in the movies folder is selected.    Two of the three sub folders(Bluray, HDDVD)  have backdrop files defined for them and they are displayed when in that folder, DVD only has a primary image (saved as poster.jpg by the web meta editor) no backdrop file, and it displays a backdrop defined in its parent folder, movies.

I would like to post screenshot attachments of mbc & the web meta data editor, but they are to large to post.

Anything I might check for what might be causing the movies view to not display the backdrop in bluray or HDDVD when either is selected?

Thanks
