Allow users access to playlist

I suspect I'm missing the obvious here, but how do I allow specific users access to a playlist? I've found where you make it private or public to all.

Thanks

I've not even found where you can set them as private or public... I'm missing something somewhere?

(Emby team needs to hire a person to keep the KB up-to-date. The * list of changes is just too vague for some of these things)

When you create a playlist; it's private by default. You can then long-press/right-click/use the three dots menu on a playlist, click 'manage collaboration' and change it to 'collaborative' ie public.

I believe this menu is supposed to populate with users as well so you can grant individual access to view/edit but that doesn't appear to work for me either.

Yes, that screenshot is the web app via chrome android with an admin account.

I get the same results on windows chrome and emby for android.

Server v4.8.0.80

Emby for android v3.3.65

Is that your playlist or a different user's playlist?

Mine. Though I just created a second one using a test user and the interface looks the same as above regardless of which user I view it from. (admin or the user that created this second playlist)

Are there any errors in the browser debug console?

No. Not for either user in Windows chrome.

Pre-existing Playlists do not have the "Manage Collaboration" option in the menu.  Is remaking them the only way to correct this?

Also, as the others have reported: not seeing a user list in there.  Chrome on Windows 11.

I'm seeing the same behavior in the web app and in the Android app with newly created playlists. No way to share private playlists with individual users. Also tested in edge and chrome on windows and seeing the same thing.

I'm glad it's not just me being thick then 😂

Are you all enabling the additional User Profile config option?

This allows the 'Collaboration' page to be populated with your server users. Be aware that this list will expose all users to each other.

@seanbuffThat did the trick. I hadn't messed with the new playlist options until I tested this out.

For anyone else wondering, the setting is configurable per user, but as already stated, any user that has this enabled will be able to see a list of all users on the server.

@LukeAre there any plans to add more granular controls to whom each user can share a playlist with?

Playlist sharing is a very desirable option, however I would definitely like to see more granularity in the controls as there are downsides to giving out a full list of all users on the server, especially considering it exposes names of admin accounts.

Ah, I had missed that one. Definitely glad it's an option though, I'm not a fan of displaying all users to other users.

OK so with this unchecked, ideally you shouldn't be able to access the dialog at all so that will need to be looked at. Thanks.

In that case I think there should be three options: no sharing, global sharing (what we get now, minus the extra space for a user list), and individual sharing.

I'm fine with letting users share playlists with each other, I just don't want to share the whole userlist with them.

Perhaps just the current checkbox plus another list under 'access' tuning which other users a particular user can see to share with?

is there a way to set playlist access to public globally?

i have set all users to sharing as per the screenshot but as a create new playlists they get set as private. it did not used to be that way. I understand the rationale for having the public/private bifurcation. Additonally, the collaboration setting (right click on playlist) does not show on older playlists created with prior versions so its confusing - some playlist show for everyone and other do not - it would be helpful to have a way to manage in bulk - thanks

Right click -> Manage collaboration -> Set the playlist to collaborative

does not show on older playlists created with prior versions

Older playlists are available to all users.
