F1nchy 29 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 (edited) I've noticed that all my movies only show the first genre where it shows the main movie info, I'm sure it showed more previously? I've take a screenshot showing where I mean. I've one it from the web player but it's the same on my Android TV and Android tablet; Image 1 shows Saltburn as being Comedy drama (the move has the genres 'Comedy Drama' and 'Thriller' - not sure why it's dropped the uppercase D from drama) Image 2 shows lower down where it has both Comedy Drama and Thriller, so Emby is picking up the genres I've set. Am I going mad? Didn't it used to show all the genres (ie Action, Drama, Thriller, etc) and not just the first one? Have I changed something to set it to only show one (the first) genre? I can't find a setting for it. I have just been trying to use TinyMediaManager to let me group manage them, but I think that's knackered my metadata for some of them and wouldn't pick up the genres from the updated nfo's Tiny created, I must not have it set correctly to work best with Emby, so I've gone back to Ember (which I have used for years) and even after correcting genres, etc in Ember it's not showing more than one genre. Any ideas? Thanks! Edited February 2, 2024 by F1nchy
Luke 42078 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Hi, there is a new option in display settings to limit the number of genres shown on detail screens. You can still scroll to the bottom and see all of them.
F1nchy 29 Posted February 3, 2024 Author Posted February 3, 2024 lol! I've spent hours trying to sort all that out! Thought I was going mad! Thanks! When was that added?
Luke 42078 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 During 4.8 development. Within the last few months.
F1nchy 29 Posted February 3, 2024 Author Posted February 3, 2024 Ah, ok. It is device specific or user specific? Could I suggest the default is set to 2 or 3 and not 1? Would also the confusion I had and I imagine more people would prefer more than 1 by default? Just a thought! Thanks 1
Embodiment 28 Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Can the order of genres as shown on the Movies page be arranged differently? The space, rightfully so is limited to about two max. I created a genre called duplicate and they do not show up on that screen. They do when I tap on the specific movie when all the genres are shown. I know I can set a filter, but I want to see both the non duplicate thumbnail and the duplicate thumbnail side by side. I use it for offline viewing and other purposes.

They are displayed in the order they appear in your metadata. Usually this comes from the list of genres that was fetched by moviedb, tvdb, etc. the metadata editor allows drag and drop re-ordering. Does that answer your question?
Embodiment 28 Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 (edited) A bit, yes. The more I think of this, I wonder. Since I created the genre "duplicate" that would not come from moviedb, etc. Only place I think that could come from would be my .nfo. Would that be correct? If so, Emby does read nfo files and could someday read the play count? Just thinking of the work I am doing now marking 2,000 plus movies watched manually in Emby (moving from Kodi to Emby). Edited May 22, 2025 by Embodiment Re-read and understand better..

Either the nfo or you added it using the metadata editor.

Since we're already having this conversation in another topic, let's keep it there in order to avoid discussing the same thing in mulitple places. Thanks.
