Luke 42080 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Hi, try shutting down Emby Server, then rebooting your machine. Then install the latest version of Emby Server from our website on top of your existing version: https://emby.media/windows-server.html Does that help?
jRiegert 2 Posted February 2, 2024 Author Posted February 2, 2024 (edited) thats what I did.. attached the screenshot log.txt Edited February 2, 2024 by jRiegert log

Luke 42080 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 OK what it looks like to me is happening, is the 4.8 upgrade is trying to run it's database upgrade and you're shutting down the server in the middle of it. I can understand why you might do this given the lack of a progress bar, but what I would do instead is just give it time, allow it to finish, and then I think your server web interface will come up. At this point you have 4.8 installed, so you don't need to keep running the installer. Just start the server from the windows start menu or whatever your normal method of starting it is.
jRiegert 2 Posted February 2, 2024 Author Posted February 2, 2024 so let it start up and leave it alone? gotcha.

I'm having this exact same apparent issue. How long should the DB upgrade take? EmbyServer.exe is using 30% of my i7 CPU but doesn't appear to be accomplishing anything. My logs terminate at "Info SqliteItemRepository: Dropping 1104584 virtual items" My library.db is 2GB There is a library.db-wal that appears stuck at 1.1GB & a library.db-shm that appears stuck at 2176 KB -- last modified 9 minutes later than all other files. The fact that the files aren't continuing to be modified is what concerns me. I'd expect the files to be getting modified if it was actually upgrading the db.
jRiegert 2 Posted February 2, 2024 Author Posted February 2, 2024 My Server just came back!!! thanks!!! 1

That's a lot of items to drop, it's going to take some time for sure. It will finish eventually. 1

Update: it took like 20 hours but everything appears to be working fine now.
pwhodges 2012 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 Have you increased your database cache size (in the database tab on the dashboard)? Looks to me as if you might benefit from that. Paul
Celibro 0 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 After the update to 4.8, my server no longer wants to work, it stays in the task manager for a few seconds and closes. Solutions? embyserver.txt

pwhodges 2012 Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 128 seems pretty miserly for typical systems; I've got 750, which follows Happy2Play's suggestion. My total media library is about 10TB (but a lot of items, as I compress quite hard). Paul 1
dapper 14 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Well, it certainly appears like my 50TB library needs more than that measly 128mb to fit it all in memory. Perhaps the devs could include this information in the database settings page itself. As it stands, the database settings page strongly advises against adjusting anything.
