How To Monitor Subtitle Auto Search

I've had Emby for a while, I have a lot of content in it.   I recently add a few new TV shows and they don't have subtitles.  I installed the OpenSubtitles plugin in and gave it my premium account with opensubtitles.  I went through the config of my library, and put OpenSubs at the top and it looks like examples I've seen in other threads.

The subs on the new shows aren't showing up and my "download history" on open subs is not showing any downloads.

Is there a way to monitor what the "auto subtitle system" is doing?  So I tell if it's just processing a back log?  Maybe some error is occurring?

HI, what download history do you mean? Emby Server doesn't have a subtitle download history.

Unfortunately right now there isn't much of a way to monitor this outside of the server log, but now that you bring it up I think it's probably a good idea to have something.

OpenSubs displays your download history in an effort to get you to rate the subs that you have downloaded.

Yeah it would be great to have some idea whats happening.  Right now the only thing I can do is tell you the subs aren't showing up.

Is there anything specific I could look for in the logs?

There will be a log entry for the http requests to open subtitles. There should be one as well for saving the file. If not that can be added.

I see many calls going out, very few of them result in a call to download.  If I turn on debug logging will that show the request and response?  How do I trigger it to start searching?

Yes you'll see more with debug logging. To trigger it either run the scheduled task or search for something manually using the subtitle editor.

Hit the Scheduled Task with debug logging enabled.  Still no response logging.  So I guess I just have to assume it's not erroring/failing.  I turned off hash match, and it's doing a fair bit of downloading now.

Guess I'll just have to hope they are right.  Thanks for your help.

Another thought for the sub title search.  I see in the log when I turn off hash match that it not longer uses that.  Maybe an option, to prefer hash match.  So it would only search by file name if the the hash match failed to find anything.

hi, we already do this. We sort the results that we get back from opensubtitles to put the hash matches at the beginning.
