New playlists are awesome but....

Firstly, thank you @Lukethe new playlist privacy is awesome and a long time coming.

Two things i have noticed in my initial testing, firstly, previous playlists did not crossover to 4.8, they showed in folder view but nothing was in them, no biggie for me personally as i only had a couple due to the way they previously were always public. Secondly when clicking the playlist library card in the main menu, it opens to folders view instead of playlists and we do not have an option to set or change this as with most libraries.

That's odd. Are you able to remove that library from Emby library setup?

If it lets you, try doing that, and then create a new playlist and that will recreate it.

Essentially what's happened is the library has lost it's content type of playlists and is being rendered in mixed content mode. It's harmless but annoying to have the two tabs.

If i do remove that library though @Lukei have no way to access playlists for tv shows as there is not an option in the tv library navbar and i have some playlists for things like The Arrowverse that span multiple series.

@Luke I removed the playlist library, created a music playlist and said playlist is accessible in the navbar the music library, added a tv show playlist and there is no way to access it, there is no longer a playlist library in the main menu (there is in admin) and there is no playlist option in the tv series navbar.

 

EDIT: If i go to an episode that is in the playlist, it does show an 'Included In' and i can access the playlist from there, but nowhere else can i seem to access it.

A further update on this @Luke, the playlist menu for tv series is showing on the nvidia shield app, it is however not showing on the android app on my galaxy.

So it's missing from the webui and android mobile app and i also checked emby theatre for windows and its missing from there as well, but it is displaying just fine on android tv app, i don't have any other devices i can check sorry.

Also another thought, i notice all the playlists are going to the same 'userplaylists' folder in emby's data folder, is this going to cause a conflict should 2 users use the exact same name for a playlist??

Yes, there is a playlist library there, i can add playlists no problems but cannot access any made of tv episodes as there is no playlist option in the navbar appearing, and there is no playlist library in the main menu, the only way to access the tv playlists are going to an epsiode thats included in the playlist.

Playlist is appearing under movies if i make a movie playlist, music is also fine, it's just tv epoisodes, there is no way to navigate to a tv playlist and as i pointed out above there IS a navigation option in the android TV app but not the WebUI or anything else.

OK this has never been supported before. It's something we can look at adding, but it's not there right now.

Weird, i've always had tv playlists but everyone accessed them through the playlist library, that is no longer an option since 4.8 as it doesn't add the playlist card back to the main menu so now i am left with no way to get to my tv playlists on the web UI at least, because as i said in the Android TV app, there is a playlist option in the tv library which makes it even weirder!

It does. You may need to go through every user now and grant them access to it.

Thank You @Lukethat got them back, did not even click that i had to enable access again, stupid me, still playlists in the navbar would be nice, i also noticed there is no favourites in the music navbar?

I have yes, emby is in large about the music for me, hence my decade of whinging about playlists on and off mate haha i have seen faves down there, was just an observation that the option isn't in navigation but it is for all the other libraries, anyways thank you again for making playlists work like playlists should  onto the android tv bug that's been annoying me forever now, but i'll let ya catch up with all the other 4.8 issues first lol
