CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Hi My library is setup with a single movie library. 4k and 1080p version in the same folder. This works very well. On the home page shows the single movie to continue watching. I have other family members that I dont want to see the 4k movies as this is played on a 1080p tv and the server pc ends up working hard because the wrong version is played. I have tried two libraries Movies and 4k movies. Seperating the two versions. I can then manually group the versions. If I setup this way I get both versions showing on continued watching on the home screen. Could anyone give me some guidance on how to make this work please or the best solution. Thanks in advance
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 There are a two options here - a) Use Tags Under Parental Control for that user - set it to 'Block Items with these Tags' . Then set all your 4K items to have that Tag. Not the most efficient way, as you need to remember to Tag the items you don't want displayed. Core emby has no way to add these tags for you .. but Plugins such as MediaInfo can add 4K tags etc. b) Use Folders For for Movies/TV library, you need to add MULTIPLE individual folders (as shares or folders) - that way, in User > Access - you can individually restrict an entire folder. The restricted item should not show as a duplicate on the home screen - at least I don't recall it doing so but I may be wrong. I personally use Tag's now to restrict if I need to - as I no longer use multiple versions, but previously did it the Folder way. -- I hope that helps ? 1
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted January 31, 2024 Author Posted January 31, 2024 Thanks I have looked at the tags and I think the folder option works better for my case. Appreciate the guidance. Is it possible to tag multiple movies within emby? or other software?

MediaInfo Plugin - but the primary purpose of that is to update track titles, tagging is an optional add-on. This is all on a schedule and adds new items etc. Bulky Plugin - is a dedicated Tagging (+ other metadata) tool - but this is a manual batch process.
JuJuJurassic 49 Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 I had this exact requirement. I used bulky to tag all the 4k films "4k" and then used access control on the users to block the "4k" tags. Worked perfectly 1
vaise 340 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 I was thinking of a similar thing but on devices, rather than users. I have kids that spread themselves around a load of devices. I hav three movie libs : movies 4k movies DV movies i have in tv that can do DV, I’d like that to only show in that, then two that do 4K, so they can see 4k, then 3 that can’t do dv or 4k, so they only see the one. Can work on devices.
