spon 26 Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) Hi guys. I've having an odd situation the last few days where multiple files will not play due to "No compatible streams are currently available" error message. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the message. Sometime it will occur on a file that I've previously watched part of with no problem. It occurs on different formats, bitrates, etc. I'm sure it's not, but it seems random. Version 4.7.14.0 Error occurs most frequently using the web app (both Firefox and Chrome) but also on the Windows app. No issues with the Android app, as far as I can tell. I have the default playback quality set to Auto, but have tried other options without success. Log file attached. Thanks! embyserver (2).txt Edited January 26, 2024 by spon
Luke 42078 Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Hi, strange. Can you temporarily enable debug logging, repeat the error and then attach the debug log? Thanks.
spon 26 Posted January 26, 2024 Author Posted January 26, 2024 Thanks so much. Can't believe I forgot to enable debugging on the log. Rookie mistake. lol. Here you go. embyserver (3).txt
Luke 42078 Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Hmm, nothing obvious. If you refresh metadata on one of these titles, does that cure it?
spon 26 Posted January 27, 2024 Author Posted January 27, 2024 Interestingly, of the two files that I'm currently having this situation on, one of them was fixed after I refreshed the metadata, but the other was not. I tried rebooting Emby Server, but that didn't fix it. Maybe it's just an issue with the files themselves. I'll update this thread the next time it happens with a different file and attach a new debug log.
spon 26 Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 hey @LukeI have a little more information on this issue. I noticed in the Activity section of the dashboard that the problematic files show the incorrect episode. In this example, I'm trying to play S3:E1 called Heartless but the Activity log shows Emby is attempting to play S1:E1 called Xbox. embyserver.txt
Neminem 1519 Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I guess the video its playing is misidentified. Because its show Version that you masked. How is your TV Naming
spon 26 Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 I'm pretty diligent about naming, but I'm guessing you are correct. I checked and the affected files do have multiple versions, however the odd thing is that 95% of the time there is no problem. The multiple versions are stored in different locations - I have separate drives for 4k content. The episode in question has 2 versions. Here are the complete file names: South Side - 3x01 - Heartless (South.Side.S03E01.1080p.HMAX.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-DB).mkv South Side - 3x01 - Heartless (South.Side.S03E01.2160p.HMAX.WEB-DL.DD5.1.HEVC-DB).mkv
spon 26 Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 I wanted to provide and update and work around in case anyone else is having this issue. The problem is limited to the Next Up section of the home screen. I can play the affected episodes from the main TV menu or via search with no problem. All in all not a huge deal.

spon 26 Posted February 2, 2024 Author Posted February 2, 2024 @Lukeyes, that’s what happens 95% of the time. It’s just the odd 5% or so that get the No Compatible Streams message. However, when I get that error, I can play the episode ok (both versions) if I access it from any place other than the Home Screen (both Resume Playing and Next Up). Trigger the playback from either area throws the error. Don’t burn a lot of time on this issue tho. It’s easy enough to just trigger the playback from the main TV section or via Search. 1
muzicman0 84 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 (edited) I'm having the same issue. Some files work, some don't. I can play the files through other applications, but not through a web browser for sure. I will have to try my Shield to see. I know they will play from Kodi on my Shield, but not sure on the Emby app. [EDIT] The meta data is correct in Emby. muzicman0 84 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 another curious thing.
