Direct Play Back

Not sure if this is the appropriate section to ask this or not.  Apologies if it isn’t.

If a client is Direct Playing is it playing from the server or from the source the stream is from.  
 

For example, if I receive a stream from Provider A that I add to the server and a user accesses a channel that is provided by provider A and it plays as Direct Play.  Is the user playing from the Server or directly from Provider A? 
 

I’d rather the user access the channel via the Emby server so that it uses https.
