all4dom 101 Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Recently i started to redo some of my media since I purchased some new tvs & a sound bar. I started adding subtitles when possible & i noticed that when I selected the subtitles while watching the movie it didn't play. When I selected the subtitle before starting the movie it played with the caption on, but I noticed the movie was being transcoded. When I didn't select the subtitle the movie didn't transcode. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Thanks Dom
Luke 42081 Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 Hi, that sounds normal if the subtitle format isn’t supported by the device.
all4dom 101 Posted January 20, 2024 Author Posted January 20, 2024 Thanks @Luke. I was just searching the emby forums & i read the pgs format can do that. I posted in the samsng forum to get Sam & frostbytes help to see what format i can use for the samsung emby theater client. 1
visproduction 315 Posted January 20, 2024 Posted January 20, 2024 About a year ago, I had a 2021 65" Samsung TV that was not playing subtitles for Emby web client. The subs didn't show up on the media page and you couldn't select them. Reinstalling Emby finally fixed it. Perhaps there was an update. I think these DLNA tweaks for different TV brands are rather tricky.
jkramer 12 Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 I use a Shield Pro as my client, Win10 as the server. Over time I've noticed .srt subtitles work best, perhaps you could try that?
