A Question on Transcoding

Recommended Posts

First, I am not saying anything is wrong, but I would like to get a better understanding on what I am seeing.  I have a remote user and transcoding kicks in perfectly fine using CUDA.  So I am curious as to why the interface states CPU usage 24%/AVG 2%?  Shouldn't CPU be essentially 0%?

Hi, no it doesn’t because just because you’re getting hwa for the encoding and decoding doesn’t mean there aren’t other parts of the process handled by the cpu.

Fair enough.... I do see watching Task Manager that FFmepg spikes a bit, but I suppose that is natural computing happening.  Thanks.

Audio is transcoded by CPU.
