jriker1 20 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Just noticed Emby doesn't look to have created a collection for Avatar. So I have these movies But in the collection nothing for the movies: Even have them in an Avatar Collection folder but nothing. Short of creating a collection manually thought I'd check here. Thanks. Luke 42080 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Hi, try refreshing the metadata for both movies and see if that helps.
jriker1 20 Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) Thanks Luke. That's already in process so will see. I did go into each library and set it to recheck every 30 days. Is taking a long time as it stated and that's fine so will see. Not sure if matters but also just deleted the old Collections plugin. Edited January 14, 2024 by jriker1
jriker1 20 Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 Not sure why it's there beyond the two changes I made as I refresh metadata for the whole repository often but it's there now but with a crappy image. 1

I clicked into the collection plugin and it said it's no longer used so to delete it. So guessing it wasn't active. I right clicked and hit refresh metadata. Then checked to replace images. After a few seconds the image was replaced with a better one. So why didn't it put this image in to begin with? Edited January 14, 2024 by jriker1
ebr 16185 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 43 minutes ago, jriker1 said: So why didn't it put this image in to begin with? Hi. Because we do initial metadata retrieval in phases in order to get the content available and ready to play as fast as possible. So, you may see content with no or temporary/automatic images at first and then, later, those will get filled in from the metadata providers.

Ceten 27 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I think the reason why your collection wasn't created in the first place might be because the first Avatar movie was added to your library when no Avatar collection existed yet. In this case the metadata for Avatar will not contain the collection id and will not be added to the collection. I've had this before with multiple collections, see this topic for more info: This can be fixed be refreshing the metadata on the movie that was added before the collection existed. Unless something has changed in this regard and these are now detected, @Luke? My Avatar seems to have a collection id but that might be because I replaced my old copy with the new 4K version.

Correct, this could be the reason.
jriker1 20 Posted January 16, 2024 Author Posted January 16, 2024 Funny you should say this. I updated my WMV file to a MKV file on 10/16/2023 so guess it didn't update with that change.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 It seems that if a collection does not exist and it is desired to have it you simply create it manually. That seems to be a way to make sure that the collection engine has exactly what is expected and it saves all this crying. While the automatic features of Emby are pretty good they are not perfect and there is no reason not to help them when needed. It should be noted that I have a lot of collections (about 275 or so) but I do not like at all the automatic feature at all as it creates a bunch of garbage collections. For me manual is the only good and reliable way to create collections.
