I have a 4K max and with the update I can play DV normally.

But with my couple of 4K 2018 it fallbacks to HR10+ is there a fix coming for these 4K 2018 devices?

The same way the app is working with the Fire Stick 4K Max.

Play mkv file directly in DV instead of the HDR10 fallback.

What are the 4K 2018 devices ?   Are they DV8 compatible ?

Do they play any DV properly, or only selected files ?

Unless the device is passing to Emby that it can play DV8, then Emby will not even attempt it and fallback to HDR10/HDR10+

Fire Stick TV 4K 2018, is the first gen.

They play DV, Netflix plays DV, force HDR mode displays DV.

It supports DV8

Tks, I thought that's the device you meant but wanted to check.  I checked the 4K stick Gen 2 (AFTKM) - and that works fine, so it must be a Gen 1 issue (AFTMM)

Yep that’s what I thought too, thanks for that info, so we can summarize something like this:

Probably something with Fire OS 6.

4K Gen 1 is Fire OS 6 = DV not working

4K Gen 2 is Fire OS 8 = DV working

4K Max Gen 1 is Fire OS 7 = DV working

4K Max Gen 2 is Fire OS 8 = I got no information here about DV, but should be working just like your 4K Gen 2 with the same Fire OS 8.

To get it fixed, @Lukewill probably need a log of the detection and playback on the Gen 1 device.

@Luke

Sent you the log using the Android TV app, at 10:25 AM the user is Eduardo.

Also am attaching the server log that includes that playback session and another session 3 minutes later with the regular android app.

Problem: playing a Dolby Vision mkv file with either Emby android app on Fire TV 4K 2018 (Gen 1, Fire OS 6), result it doesn’t play with Dolby Vision it fallbacks to HDR10+.

Thanks for the help.

Of course - it's the Gen1 4K we are referring to, not the Gen 1 non 4K model ..  ;)
