Emby Client on LG TV (with Emby App) keeps freezing and buffering

Recommended Posts

hi,

I have an LG tv, using Emby app (downloaded from LG store) i'm reading tv shows from my computer that is more than capable, but strangely i have a lot of buffering with at least 2 different files.

My CPU is almost not used, i don't know if it's transcoding or not but here the logs and screenshots:

Do you see anything in the logs ? i watched a ton of previous shows without freezing in the months before, but it looks like i can't watch those two (Finch and Hijack)

Hi, I don't see anything obvious here. I do  notice you enabled dlna debug logging. This can affect the performance of the server so I would turn that off. And possible the dlna features altogether if you don't use them.

But when i go to DLNA i don't have DLNA logging enabled, see here:

I tested the file that was freezing and switching from 4K to 1080p at 20Mbp, it's super ugly but it's not freezing anymore. It looks like a network (wifi) bandwish probleme since lowering the resolution and quality allows to stream with a low speed wifi, do you agree ? (it's still strange because i have a Wifi 6 router that is 1 meter away from the tv and plugged to the LAN network)

OK my mistake, sorry. I pushed an update to the dlna plugin that should clear up all of that excess logging.

Has anything changed?

no it's the same freez/buffering. What's strange is that usually i watched 4K tv shows that were as big files if not bigger than the actual 2 different tv shows that i can't watch unless i downgrade the quality from 4k to 1080p/20mb, i can barely see colors at this low quality.

My server version:

Maybe these files have dts audio or pgs subs and your other shows don't?
If you could post the media info of some files that freeze that might help.

Can you try some lower bitrate files and see how that compares?

i will do and telle you the results.

I think the bitrate is fine, I've played higher bitrates on my LG C7 using the app.
The subs aren't PGS and the audio is EAC3 so that should all be fine, but is it possible the file from the second screenshot is an MKV with Dolby Vision as stated in the embedded title?
As far as I know LG tv's can't play mkv files with Dolby Vision, only mp4 files, except if this has changed for the latest generations.

I have the same problem, started a couple of weeks ago. Could have something to do with subtitles, but not sure

I tried to change bitrate and it didnt helped , have not had a single problems before in 2 years. No problems on my other TV with ATV 4K

My others files tested worked perfectly. I will post here the info of the alternative files so we may see something that is different that may cause the constant freezing?
