Migration between QNAP and Synology errors

Hello. Ive tried searching for this issue on the forums and knowledge base, but I just keep getting deeper into this issue after trying to implement some of the suggestions.

Emby server has been running fine, and without errors on the QNAP. I'm looking to run it instead on a Synology system I have, due to the off grid application and the fact the QNAP uses 2x the electricity per hour etc. The Synology is a 1019+ with DSM 7.2+. More than enough power to run Emby.

I used Server backup and restore on the old system, installed Emby on the Synology as a fresh install, added server backup and restore plugin to the new install, pointed it to the backup directory, and --- nothing. The wheel spins and doesn't see the backups. Both servers are the same revision.

So then I followed the instructions and tried to manually change the Emby server files and directories. This was a challenge because these NAS systems don't show the folders of the program files etc. but after following one of the posts here, I was able to use WinSCP and get in and copy the program data folders over to the new install. Restarted the server, and nothing. It will run for a few seconds (on the synology interface) and then crash. Ive tried rebooting the synology, reinstalling Emby server (which doesn't work because the data is still saved onto the NAS and just comes up again when you go to reinstall), I uninstalled Emby server and manually deleted all the Emby server files I could find through WinSCP, then reinstalled a fresh manual install, still crashes.

What should I do to get this going? I don't know why the server backup plugin can't see the backup folders. I've confirmed the right path is being input (if I try anything else, it fails and tells me it's the wrong path). I'm sure I messed something up with the manual backup. If I could get an actual full uninstall and fresh install, maybe I could get it going who knows. Thanks in advance.

HI, is any emby server log file generated?

Emby Server Data Folder

Is this the extent of it? Interestingly enough, that path on the link you provided is a different path for where the server said it had the program files. I see many of the same subfolders such as cache, metadata, data, config there as well. Are those folders in 2 different spots on a synology installation?

This looks like a QNAP log. I thought the problem was on Synology?

I wondered that myself when I skimmed through it. Thats the log off the synology, but its possible it was copied over when I copied the subfolders doing the manual restore?

What exactly did you copy?

Everything in the /share/ZFS530_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata directory

Do you have any suggestions or steps I can take to fix this, short of wiping the synology and starting over?

There's probably something in there specific to qnap that the server on Synology doesn't like. After you copied the data folder to Synology, did you make sure the server has full write access to everything underneath, recursively?

Alright. Yes I enabled all permissions. I guess at this point I’ll start with a formatting of the Synology and try again. I really only care about user data, such as show ratings that each usercan watch etc. My wife spent a lot of time even changing show and movie ratings to suit the users better that I would be in trouble if we lose. I now have a more pressing need to transfer things over as I need to return my QNAP for repairs of one of the HDD boards.

OK please let us know how that goes. Thanks.
