user84 46 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 I am migrating from Plex which I have had zero issues with connecting to over the years. I thought I had everything sorted yesterday. Port is open. I edited my router settings to reserve the IP address for my server. When using Canyouseeme, my WAN address is visible through 8096. Yesterday, I was good. Now, when I login to app.emby.media, my server is gone. When I attempt to add it, I get an error saying "Unable to reach server." Yet, my server is running, my PC is awake, and I am typing this message on it right now. Any help would be great. I like Emby and want to commit to making the transition, but these connection issues are becoming a problem.
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 ok - so it looks as if you have done the hard part - if you can 'see' a response from canyouseeme - then your emby server is listening. On a mobile using 4/5G (turn off wifi for the moment) can you connect using a web browser using http:\\your_public_wan_ip:8096 ? If you want to connect to the server locally (on the same LAN)- then you can also use a browser with http:\\your_emby_lan_ip:8096 If both of those work ok - then we can figure out why app.emby.media is not working as a next step.
user84 46 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Thanks so much for the reply. I am able to connect using both of those methods. 1
Luke 42081 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 When you connect using app.emby.media, what is the full error message that you get?
user84 46 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Well, I figured out that Chrome was my issue. Even though I was entering http and not https, it wasn't allowing me to add my server. I was able to get access by using MS Edge. I never had issues using Chrome & Plex, so it didn't occur to me. Is the only way for me to access my server using Chrome to setup SSL or be on my LAN? 1
Luke 42081 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Or configure the browser to allow it over http. All of the browsers are getting more strict about this now. 1
