Album Artist vs Artist View

Hi guys,
I have some Artist being present in the "Album Artist" view even if they don't have any "Album Artist" tag specified at all in their tags.

So, no "Album" tag, no "Album Artist" tag, No music brainz tags at all within files
... yet Emby is displaying the Artist in both places: Album Artist + Artist view ... that makes it kinda pointless and redundant.

How does Emby treat these views ? Just based on tags ? Is there anything else responsible for the sort ?
Does it fall-back to "Artist" if no "Album Artist" tag available ?

Unless i am wrong, my understanding is that "Album Artist" view should display only artists with "Album Artist" tag specified ... and the "Artist" view should display all artists; including "featured" artist splitted in "Artist" tag by semicolon (;)

If there is no "Album Artist" and no "Album" specified at all within the tags ... the artist should not be present under "Album Artist" , right ?

I am trying to make sense of these  ...

hi, sometimes the server will interpret this from the artist tag or parent folder name. What is the music folder structure option set to for the library?

Music structure on disk:
Music -> Genre -> Artist -> Album -> Tracks

Music structure setup in library
* "Music" (selected folder) -> "Other or unstructured"
* All the metadata grabbers un-checked (prefer local data)
* Song Image Fetchers -> Image Extractor
* Music Video Image Fetchers - > Screen Grabber


If the server interpret this from parent folder or artist tag then i will learn to get used to it  .
I was thinking to remove all "Album Artist" tags from "singles" track in order to eliminate those artists without an actual album from the "Album Artist" view in Emby (while, of course, keeping them in "Artist" view)

In your case it won’t read it from the parent folder name but it may be using the value from the artist.

 Most people who don’t have these values in their audio files do actually want them so it’s trying to account for that.

Is there any way to make Emby pickup the local "poster.jpg" for Artists stored in the Artist folder within my desired music folder structure (Music/Genre/Artist/Album/Tracks) when using the "Other/Unstructured" library setting ?

No, you have to pick the structured option but it sounds like you might be fine with it.
