daniel.bmyer 11 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I'm running Emby Server Docker on Unraid and using my Nvidia Shield TV. I'm trying to figure out how to get Extras to properly show up. I had them as follow but it doesn't work as I expect it to be -> Blade Runner 2049 Blade Runner.mkv - > Behind the Scenes Behind the Scenes.mkv -> Featurettes Featurettes.mkc -> Trailers Trailers.mkv When I click on Blade Runner 2049 in Emby, I get a section called Extras and all the above just show as individual files, not in Sections labeled as Behind the Scenes, Featurettes etc. I tried putting the folders below a folder called Extras, but then they never showed up in Emby. Just would like to know the proper way to setup extras and how they should appear in Emby when I click on the movie.
Luke 42080 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Hi there, can you please show the complete contents of the folder, as well as a screenshot of what you see in Emby Server? Thanks.

Luke 42080 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Hi, ok yes this is currently expected behavior.
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 1, 2024 Author Posted January 1, 2024 (edited) So I can only see a section labeled Extras but not Featurettes, Trailers, Behind the Scenes? Seems odd. If we can see a section called Extras why not Behind the Scenes, Trailers etc.... Edited January 1, 2024 by daniel.bmyer
Luke 42080 Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Correct, yes. More options for this are possible for future updates. Thanks.
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I'm actually stiil having one other problem. I have an Extras folder with my movie JFK and in the Extras folder I have a trailer.mkv When I go to the movie it's not showing Extras at all. It seems to be hit or miss. Unless I'm not doing something right. https://photos.app.goo.gl/aWQohXUp5sB1johs7

daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I tried Extras folder and I just renamed it to Trailers and the name of the file is Trailer.mkv

daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 Ok...well it's not...anything else we can investigate?
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 Well, I think it may be a problem with the file. I copied another extras folder from a diff movie to JFK and it picked it up. Seems odd cause I can play the trailer
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 THis just doesn't work. I downloaded an mkv trailer and copied to a folder called extras in The Creator. I rescanned my library, but the trailer doesn't show up at all. It's very odd. The only one that I can copy to various movie folders is the one from Oppenheimer. I can copy that extras folder to any movie and it's picked up as extras within the movie. Any other trailer I copy to any other movie folder just is not picked up.

crusher11 1101 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Trailers get picked up trailers no matter where they're located. They never get included in Extras. I've run into this several times due to extras that aren't trailers incorrectly being identified as such.
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 (edited) For Oppenheimer they are just in a folder called Extras. I'm thinking this might be a diff issue. If I download a trailer to my hard drive and copy it to the folder on my array, it's not picked up. I also noticed that when looking at the files via Midnight Commander in Unraid, the files have a * in front of the name whereas other files do not. If I download via Sonarr on my Unraid Server and it gets copied to my array, it seems to be picked up...but that doesn't reallly make sense. Not sure why that would happen. WHen done this way, no * appears in front of the name of the file Edited January 3, 2024 by daniel.bmyer
Tremas 199 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 @daniel.bmyerThere may be a misunderstanding in what you are expecting to happen. As @crusher11says, trailers are treated differently than other extras. When a trailer is "picked up" by emby, it is not shown under "extras." Instead, there is a "Trailer" button that appears directly next to the play/resume button on the media info screen. Clicking this button plays the local trailer file. If there is more than one trailer file, it will play each in order.
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 I tried that but even though I clicked the Trailer icon, when the video plays, it has a Youtube label across it on the bottom of the screen. When I play the video from my hard drive, it doesn't have a YouTube label. I assume this means it's not playing the local file...or is it? Let me see if they are even the the same file
Tremas 199 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 If you have an NFO file that includes a link to an online trailer, some clients will attempt to play that. Roku, for example, is only able to play local trailers. I'm not sure how it works for android, but the NFO link is most likely what is happening. I would try deleting any "<trailer></trailer>" tags in the NFO and see if that works.
daniel.bmyer 11 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 Ok that seems to be working. Just one is not and I think it's an issue with that specific file. Thanks for the assist 1
