Instant Mix - what’s the mechanism and any way to limit tracks?

As per the title, I take it that ‘instant mix’ will create a music play queue based upon the metadata within an audio file’s tags. But what tags does it examine and how does it work? I have a variety of tags in my files and the mix usually works well, but I am interested in the conventions used in Emby. 
 

Also (and apologies if I have missed this somewhere), is there any way of limiting the number of tracks pulled up in a mix, say to 20-25? A playlist queue of 100 + items isn’t so practical.

Everything, so genres, artists, tags, etc. It's the same algorithm as more like this for videos.

For audio it's going to be primarily driven by genre.
