Allina 0 Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Hello administrator, may I ask whether when emby client calls strm file to play: http://example.com/1.mp4 video, should I push the stream through emby server or play the straight chain directly without going through its own vps server If push the stream through own server, how can i set it to play the straight chain directly? If there is no way, has the subsequent version considered changing the playback form of calling strm to play the straight chain, which can greatly alleviate the bandwidth pressure of my vps server Thank you very much!

Then have you considered changing to direct link play, so that the playback speed will not be limited by their own server bandwidth, but also to save costs. From what I've heard, jellyfin just plays it straight
Luke 42081 Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 The problem with going straight is that we can't verify the legality of the links in your strm files, and that puts us at risk of getting in trouble with the app stores because they' are able to see whatever domains the app connects with. That wouldn't be an issue for something like the web app, but it would be for apps in the stores such as android, iOS, Roku, etc.
