I've recently overhauled all the images in my library, mostly selecting 1000 x 1500 poster images from within the MBS metadata manager. When viewed in the web client, these look great - pin sharp and very clear, but in MBC, they look quite soft, and dare I say it, blury. Is there anything I can do to improve the poster image quality?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), WMC scales everything from a common resolution spec which happens to be 720p.  This makes coding for things much easier but does result in images that aren't of true fidelity.

Also, MBC requests posters to be limited to a size of 350 pixels wide because, in 99% of the cases that is plenty large enough for display in all views (most of them show posters much smaller than that).  This, you can adjust if you are willing to edit the common config file for MBC (found in your %appdata% folder).  Increasing it could have a negative performance impact overall as well but you can try playing with it if you wish.

Thanks for the rapid response ebr. I will add that the poster images look fine in detail view, and because I'm using MB+ Classic with the updated EHS, I only see background images on the EHS, so it's not a problem there. It only seems to be when I go into 'All Movies' view that the images look soft. In the old MBC, we used to be able to re-size the poster images easily (I'm not using coverflow, just plain left/right scrolling), and I thought I'd have a go at that to see if things improved.

You can still easily re-size the images that are displayed on the screen (exactly how depends on the theme and view) within the interface.  The setting I pointed you to is a maximum actual size we retrieve from the server.

I'm using Subdued as my theme, with MB+ classic replacing the EHS. I've dug around in the settings, but can't see an option to increase the poster size. I'll have another look. Thanks again.

Edit the mbc config file. That's what i did some time ago and they will look sharp for you!

In Subdued, click on the setting icon on ehs and unlock the configuration, then in any view, select view options and at the bottom of the window that opens there is thumb size, select - or + depending on how you want them.

If you have mb plus then you may need to disable it just to unlock the config in subdued then re enable. I'm not sure if mb plus allows resizing of images on ehs but subdued definately does.

Hope that helps
