stuzathegreat 2 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Hi all, I've got a Windows 11 3070ti PC I use as a server and it's also plugged in to my TV. I've got that all up and running fine at 4k, full HDR support at 120hz. Through another discussion I recently found out that I'm probably leaving performance on the table and not getting as good as I can as I've not enabled Nvidia Video Super Resolution. Anyway, I've now enabled this but, what do I need to set in Emby to get the best from all those older lower res videos? In Emby Theater I get the following options GPU Choices of: Auto libmpv (I assume not this one) gpu gpu-Next And then for hardware acceleration: Auto Auto (copy back) CUDA copy back D3D D3D copy back Nvidia NVDEC copy back Unset (for mpv.conf) Any thoughts, please?
Abobader 3464 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Hello stuzathegreat, ** This is an auto reply ** Please wait for someone from staff support or our members to reply to you. It's recommended to provide more info, as it explain in this thread: Thank you. Emby Team
Luke 42081 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 HI, what about leaving everything on auto? How does that look to you?
stuzathegreat 2 Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) Fine. But that doesn't mean I'm not leaving quality on the table. Without an addictional spare identical TV & computer I can not compare which is why I'm asking the experts. Edited December 23, 2023 by stuzathegreat

stuzathegreat 2 Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 I'm not "expecting" anything, I just want to make sure I get the best that I can with what I have.

Paul Nvidia CAN do video enhancement so I think he’s trying to make sure Emby is set to its maximum potential to get the most from the entire set-up

GrimReaper 4744 Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 As I understood this: Quote Q: What do I need before I enable RTX Video Super Resolution? A: You will need the following 1. GeForce RTX GPUs 2. The latest Chrome or Edge browser or VLC with RTX Video Super Resolution support https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5448/~/rtx-video-super-resolution-faq Considering VLC has a special flavor for that: https://downloads.videolan.org/testing/vlc-rtx-upscaler/ I'd guess other players (including Theater in any mode) are out of the equation unless support specifically implemented.

Yes! And that's why I'm asking Support, which is why we post here right? By the way, this was addressed in March by a dev? It's available via browser right now but, using a remote in the Web interface is... To be kind... Suboptimal. Edited December 23, 2023 by stuzathegreat
GrimReaper 4744 Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 You can set VLC-RTX as external player in your Theater and see how does it compare, do you see any noticable difference when upscaled?
