BIgdongdong1028 6 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Hello Emby Community, I've encountered a recurring issue with my Emby installation on Windows Server and am seeking advice or solutions. The problem started in July. My Emby server intermittently stops sending data and then quickly resumes, resulting in a traffic graph that looks like large, wavelike fluctuations. This pattern consistently occurs every day between 5 PM and 12 AM. Initially, I was unable to resolve the issue and ended up reinstalling both the Windows Server OS and the Emby server software. However, a few months later, the same problem has reappeared. Through my investigations, I've mostly ruled out restrictions from my ISP. The issue also affects local network access to the Emby media library, with noticeable lag, and even accessing Emby's web interface directly from the server machine experiences delays. Interestingly, temporarily changing Emby's HTTP port seems to resolve the issue for a few days, but then the problem recurs. This issue has been troubling me for a while, and I would be grateful for any assistance or insights from the community. Thank you for your help!
ebr 16185 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Hi. Something else on your network that runs at that time and uses that same port?

Initial troubleshooting was that no program was using the same port. And if it is using the same port to cause port blocking. Then there is no reason for it to only occur between 5pm and 12pm. This image is after 12pm and before 12pm
Luke 42081 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Hi, if you can attach the emby server log then we can help identify what your emby server was doing at the time: How to Report a Problem Thanks.

I know mine did and it affected all but my Emby server - which is running on a linux box.

Based on my investigation, the current issue lies either with Emby itself or with Windows Server. This is because using http://localhost:xxxx/ to open Emby also results in lag. 1
BIgdongdong1028 6 Posted December 22, 2023 Author Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) The traffic graph became more visible after I switched my network port speed to 1G. Edited December 22, 2023 by BIgdongdong1028
Neminem 1519 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Are your media files local on your server, or on a NAS ? I have seen windows defender doing scans on my NAS.

Luke 42081 Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 There isn't anything obvious in your log other than some users streaming media. But I notice of your users is using Infuse. Please note this has a sync process where it pulls down your entire emby database, so when this is happening you may see spikes.
