jaquestati 45 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 having a weird problem where i can connect fine via the servers ip version of the server, but get stuck in a loop trying to login via emby.media to app.emby.media. it takes the login and password, then shows my server along with a connect with emby connect option... if i click on the server it says "unable to connect to the selected server at this time" and if i click connect with emby connect it just sends me back to the same page... any ideas? nothing has changed/i've changed nothing on the server.... baffling....
GrimReaper 4742 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Do you have SSL setup on your server? Your browser is likely force redirecting you to https://app.emby.media, try using http://app.emby.media (drop the "s" from "https"). Check that that address is actually shown in your address bar (http, not https and you have no lock icon). Have a read here also:

What are the exact messages that you get? did you read the full dialog? it should have some guidance.
jaquestati 45 Posted December 16, 2023 Author Posted December 16, 2023 i must be getting senile... hahaha... remembering now i had a similar problem that i posted about on here before.... where i couldnt login in one browser but could in another... and it was even grimreaper that suggested the ssl 's' thing and that did fix it.. : ) this came up because a family member kept trying to go to emby.media and clicking sign in and getting this loop... that i've been trying to figure out.... so i guess there is no way to login via the emby.media website link as it uses https ? but that makes no sense as i/they never had this problem before and nothing on the server has changed...

Luke 42080 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Quote so i guess there is no way to login via the emby.media website link as it uses https ? There is, if your server has https. Otherwise they need to use http://app.emby.media

Otherwise they need to use http://app.emby.media ok thanks... makes sense... that worked for my one browser worked one browser didnt problem... so just tell them not use emby.media to login... but make a bookmark to http://app.emby.media : )
GrimReaper 4742 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 15 minutes ago, jaquestati said: but make a bookmark to http://app.emby.media : ) That won't necessarily mean they won't be force redirected to https again upon clicking link - you should really read @pwhodges's linked post above or do a bit of Google search for alternative solutions how to circumvent https redirects on per-site basis or permanently.
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 (edited) To clarify further, this is not a problem created by Emby, it is a behaviour created by Google in the name of added security (and now copied by other browsers) which happens to produce this annoyance with Emby's hosted app. Paul Edited December 16, 2023 by pwhodges 1
