speechles 2055 Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) 18:54:39.959 Side data: 18:54:39.959 DOVI configuration record: version: 1.0, profile: 8, level: 6, rpu flag: 1, el flag: 0, bl flag: 1, compatibility id: 1 Apologies. I think with profile 8 even though it has the HDR layer the Roku may try to play the DOVI layer if sent the item directly. With newer Roku Ultra this is not supposed to happen as they supposedly fully support DOVI. Knowing the model number of your parents Roku is important because it shows the issue. What model of Roku player are they using? We need the specific model number of the device which will show on their stats for nerds display. So if you can get them to enable stats for nerds on their end they can tell you what is there. It says TranscodeReasons=ContainerBitrateExceedsLimit as the reason for transcode but it isn't actually transcoding. It just repackaged into TS and sent things over unmodified? Or just sending the extra data? Did you deny video transcoding rights to your parents user? Maybe it is peculiar to DOVI 8 specifically? We need to investigate more on our side to know for sure. ebr 16169 Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 With the Roku playback ffmpeg is never progressing far enough to output anything. It appears to just quit.

ITGuy1024 18 Posted December 30, 2023 Author Posted December 30, 2023 If I try to play it, it will hang at 99%. Audio is playing but no video. Emby showed direct play "video range not supported" then tried to transcode it. ffmpeg-transcode-b91142d5-9455-4365-b17e-a810ce6c8b3a_1.txt
ITGuy1024 18 Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) more examples from the "parents" device. Also one from Safari iOS. I'm told the Safari iOS playback just showed a black screen with audio playing. Also tried it with the hardware acceleration disabled. ffmpeg-transcode-3053bdab-df4c-422f-ac0a-6cf2dd672cbf_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-885989f0-a3e2-4d78-a80d-42d43fb84c72_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e462cb8d-4ab2-4a9f-a9c6-4d014aa7cba2_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-0d46744b-f02e-47aa-a479-7c24dd8f4d69_1_hardwaredisabled.txt ffmpeg-transcode-f5396ec7-8ec3-4d07-9e69-c9fcf2d4c64a_1_hardwaredisabled.txt Edited January 1, 2024 by ITGuy1024
ITGuy1024 18 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I'm told it started working fine yesterday for "parents" Not sure what changed. ffmpeg-transcode-c4aff7d0-329e-4e75-9a97-5dfa1e550567_1.txt 1
ITGuy1024 18 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 I have hardware acceleration disabled and it seems to be better but I am still hearing that there is playback issues. Ideally I'd like to use hardware acceleration and not rely on the CPU. Is the P400 the bottleneck? I noted it was only using 45% utilization when it was in use. ffmpeg-transcode-f2ce24bc-7d65-405b-9227-dd8626df5109_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-0ca99a21-e7a0-49b2-9f93-216f00e11b92_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-55de41c1-bd9c-4325-8d11-d2e0107a05ca_1.txt

It looks like the DTS->AAC conversion is stumbling over itself. @softworkzAny ideas?
ebr 16169 Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Have you tried a simple remux on one of these items?
ITGuy1024 18 Posted January 5, 2024 Author Posted January 5, 2024 I have on a few it didn't seem to help. Seems like 50% of my media has issues playing these days.
mastecateonward 0 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 My Roku was stuck hanging on certain movies and would jump between 33% and 76%. I turned off the subtitles and voila - movie played. Not sure if that’ll help but worth a shot.
