ShadowKindjal 21 Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 My mother is having issues with her live tv stream constantly buffering on her Google Chromecast with remote. I've attached the associated logs for the stream. Is there something happening on the server end or is it client-related? Streaming from her laptop doesn't seem to freeze. Only seems to freeze on chromecast. ffmpeg-directstream-01e57efc-9545-4ec4-ba5e-e0a24086e633_1.txt embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 9, 2023 Posted December 9, 2023 HI, I would have her try lowering the in-app quality setting and see if that helps.
ShadowKindjal 21 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. FFMPEG seems to be maxing out my CPU instead of utilizing my GPU for transcoding if I'm reading this correctly and I can't figure out why. I've attached my server log and the ffmpeg logs for two of the streams I saw in htop. ffmpeg-transcode-7eb61c9a-5968-4f11-a3d3-b41eb1299360_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-e57a75d7-3a5c-4ffa-ac56-df522805ba21_1.txt embyserver-1.2.24.txt

ShadowKindjal 21 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I forgot that the original issue was live tv specific. She has admitted it happens for both live tv and regular tv. I probably should have made this a new post.
ShadowKindjal 21 Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 It seems like items are software transcoding instead of hardware transcoding if I'm reviewing this correctly.
Luke 42077 Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Currently those do not display the reason for that, but the ffmpeg log may shed some light on that. For starters, burning in subtitles in the first example is probably the reason.
ShadowKindjal 21 Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 The ffmpeg-transcode-7eb61c9a log from the first post corresponds with the Harry Potter example I shared from my dashboard
