Pinkston 4 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Hi, When I try to play a video out of local network that requires transcoding the video and audio will pause frequently. Every 10-30 seconds. Direct play works fine. It doesn't seem to matter if its 4k HEVC or 1080p HEVC. Tested on both the android and apple TV app out of local network. Intel 12100. Headless server. I have attached screen shots of my transcode settings and ffmpeg log. Thanks for your help. ffmpeg-transcode-9683b236-0025-48ba-842b-5bbbfcf21af7_1.txt
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 (edited) Turn on throttling - your system has more than sufficient transcoding power but it will be running at 100% to convert the entire file as soon as it can - it is better to use throttling, the system will then only transcode enough to fill the 'buffer' - leaving the system some headroom for other tasks. If possible - also ensure the transcoding temp path is not the same as what the media is stored on - ideally an SSD/NVME or RAM drive. Edited November 30, 2023 by rbjtech 1
Pinkston 4 Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 That seems to have done the trick! That dropped my GPU load from 80-90 percent to less than 10. Thanks for your quick reponse! 1 1
