AnSniper 19 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) Many Chinese TV dramas have lines embedded in their videos, This has led to many screenshots containing dialogue. Is there a way to avoid this situation through any algorithm? The screenshot is as follows (for example only): https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/112280-begin-again/season/1 From the third episode onwards, many of the images obtained by Screen Grabber are like this. What visual processing software can be used to exclude the presence of subtitles when they appear directly below? Edited November 27, 2023 by AnSniper
Neminem 1519 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I think They need a screenshot, to see what you mean.

Neminem 1519 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) Are these media files, with burned in subtitles. If they are burned into the file you have, they are part on the media picture, and cant be removed. Thats all about embedded vs burned in. Edited November 27, 2023 by jaycedk

I know that in Chinese TV dramas, subtitles are embedded in videos because there are too many Chinese people. Perhaps this is the best solution to ensure that everyone can see the video normally. Neminem 1519 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 So the subs are hardcoded and can't be removed ?

I think this kind of image is better: There are no subtitles, actors are centered, or images of actors are highlighted. Edited November 27, 2023 by AnSniper
Neminem 1519 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Ok I see, its not in your media file. But the image files you pull from Begin Again: Sæson 1 (2020) — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org)

There are also many images like that in my emby, most likely captured through Screen Grabber. That's why I wanted to ask if it's possible to upgrade Screen Grabber. Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 It has been asked for a LONG time that Emby provide a variable for the index that Emby uses to select which image to use for screen capture or bif files or chapter markers and Emby has often seemed receptive to that idea but, so far, nothing has happened. But we should not give up hope as Emby has a LOT on their plate and in many cases images is simply not "important" enough to spend much time on.
Neminem 1519 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Thanks @Gilgamesh_48 I was trying to see if it came from TMDB or something hardcoded into media files.
