Stop emby from removing media due to lost network path?

Hi, For the 2nd time in 6 months the rclone mount dropped overnight and emby proceeded to remove all my media.  I have restored the connection and now emby will spend several days re-adding everything on that network path.  Is there a way to stop this from happening when I have a network issue? maybe a delay for 48 hours before removing media?

Many thanks

If you delete the trigger for the "Scan media library" task it should prevent this. You'd have to scan the libraries manually.

Alternatively you can change the trigger from the default to whatever you want.

You'll also want to make sure you have real time monitoring disabled on libraries.

Depending on your level of scripting knowledge - you can also get a little smarter and do a test for an 'rclone' file - if that is reachable, then go ahead and do a scan via the emby API (via curl etc), if that rclone file is not reachable - then cancel the scan - repeat this on a schedule.

It would actually be a pretty smart thing to add to the 'scan' options ... @Luke

Hi, the server doesn't remove media that it has determined to be unreachable.

Hi All,  Plex has this feature to not remove media due to network problems and @Luke Emby definitely does do this, it is my second time, I did see a post a few months ago when it happened to another user but I cannot find it currently.

1, Realtime monitoring is definitely not something I want to be without and do not want to be manually scanning libraries

2, I schedule a scan every 24 hours for things that are missed, is this not normal?

3, @rbjtechI am afraid my scripting knowledge is VERY poor 😞

4, I had 1452 TV shows yesterday, rclone connection got dropped (tailscale reasons) this morning Emby said I had 156 TV Shows (156 are on the local storage, the rest are remote) I have reconnected the rclone mount and this is the result, slowly re-adding for days...

I will report it as a problem on Wednesday but in the meantime I have 2 questions?

on one of the shows I was watching emby had successfully detected the intros, I now see that on rediscovery of the same shows now the network connection has been restored the intro detection has been lost.

1, If I were to do an emby restore would that be restored?

2, I am guessing all the artwork is not backed up (I do not store it in media folders for performance reasons)

Hi MBC0,

I've had the exact same problem. If I forget and power down the server offering Emby it's network share, it loses the metadata, and then downloads it, 4 days later it's ok, and yes the metadata is stored with the media files. I haven't found a solution, apart from putting them on the same power block, so I can't turn one off without the other. If you come up with a solution, please let me know, I'd be very grateful.

@LukeThe only way to reproduce this error is to break the connection to my network attached storage, which last time took 4-5 days to re-detect, I also lost all my intro/credit detections (months of work) I willhave to find another way to reproduce for you as it is very painful to recover.

@JuJuJurassicno solution other than making damn sure that network connection doesn't break!
