Wrong random artwork for files without artwork

Hi all,

I have found this frustrating behaviour of the emby server happening using DLNA (at the moment it seems not to affect apps or the web interface).

I have some songs (but I imagine it happends with movie too), half of them haven't an integrated artwork and I don't like the services that get them from the internet (I disabled all of them), so I just would like they'll show a default picture (or no picture).

What Emby does is taking the first artwork available in the folder and applying to all the songs without artworks....this is very stupid, expecially if you tink about folder with different artists.

If a folder contain only files without artworks the first available artwork of the parent folder is taken (more stupid too)

 

Is there someone here that have an idea of how to stop this happening? I thought I could create by myself an image to use with songs without an artwork, but this would be a workaround I won't be very happy with.

Hi, thanks for answering.

I attached some pictures, they have two prefixes DLNA and APP to help you comparing the differents behaviour.

 

 

There are 2 examples:

1) the folder called "NUOVA" has many songs without artworks but in DLNA mode they have all the artworks from "Balla per me".(the first of the folder)

2) the Elton Jhon's folder contains olny songs with no artworks, but in DLNA mode they show Ed Sheeran Artwork. Ed Sheeran's folder is the first in the folder called "E" having at least one song with an artwork. 

this happends on all the 5 TVs I have, with every single song and every single folder. If a song hasn't an image, the first image of the folder is used if present, otherwise the first image available from songs or subfolders in the parent folder are taken...and so on

Hi, what version of Emby Server are you on? How are your files organized?

emby version is 4.7.14.0

The organization is very heterogeneous, the files are divided this way:

the first level of folders contains one for each letter (A, B, C, ...) plus some spare folders to divide the songs for genres (Dance, Disco, ...) or to keep all the "new" ones in one place only ("0 NUOVA").

These folders may or may not contain other folders. ie: Dance has the same structure of the root (A, B, C,...), Disco contains sparse songs, while the "letter folders" contains Artists folders with songs inside.

Absolutely no album folders

All the files respect the "Artist - Title" naming convention and have Tags containing only these two fields (some with a picture, some not)

So if there is any logic that can't be customized (or disabled) which forces to change the folder structure (like it happends in Plex, which is the reason because I was looking around to find something working better), that could be a problem.

Anyway it's strange too that the way you access the media (DLNA, Web or App) change the way they are showed.

 

And we're not even talking about the way they are ordered
