MBSki 1114 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 I moved some episodes around in my Star Wars playlist and rescanned the playlist library, but the changes aren't showing up in my playlist on Emby. The playlist sort is set to Playlist Order, but the change to the order isn't showing correctly. I've never seen this issue before. Is it a bug?
roaku 842 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 (edited) I think Emby is only using m3u for playlists at this point, so I would check for those and update them as needed. I had a similar experience recently: Edited November 25, 2023 by roaku
Luke 42080 Posted November 25, 2023 Posted November 25, 2023 Hi there, can you please provide a specific example? Thanks.

MBSki 1114 Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 I'm not sure what else to tell you Luke. I'm viewing the playlist.xml in programdata\data\playlists. They're all still xml files. I open the xml file, move an episode from the bottom, to the top, save the xml file, rescan the playlist library, and the Emby GUI still shows the episode that I moved to the top where it was before the change. The xml however, is changed. Is Emby grabbing a playlist file from somewhere else?
MBSki 1114 Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 @Luke Can you help me out with this issue?
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Try refreshing the metadata on the playlist. Also try using the user interface to make your changes instead.

Moving via the UI would work, but the playlist is 500 items and I need to move the new items from the bottom all the way to the top. That's why I'm using the xml file. Emby isn't reading that xml file anymore. Why isn't it reading the file? Edit: Just after sending this I tried again and it worked. I think I know what the issue is. I'm editing in Windows notepad and MS changed how notepad works. Rather than automatically closing windows, it keeps them open, and even though they show as saved, they really aren't saved until their closed. At least that's what seems to be happening. Once I closed the xml file and scanned the library, the items moved where I moved them to. Sorry for the trouble. Edited November 27, 2023 by MBSki
Luke 42080 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I think you'll have a better experience with notepad++.
