ExOhioGuy 1 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 A few months ago, I migrated all my content to a new, larger, hard disk. After completing the copy, I realized that I had failed to copy a few TV series/episodes. For some reason, Adam-12, for example, was just an empty directory called "Adam 12". No problem, I thought. I copied all the content that I had missed and it was re-added to my library as before. But now, none of the previously missing content shows up in any playlists. If I try to create a Test playlist and add just one or two Adam-12 episodes, the playlist is successfully created - but it's empty. If I look at the playlist xml file, it appears normal with the correct path and filename showing in the playlist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <Item> <Added>11/21/2023 9:09:53 PM</Added> <LockData>false</LockData> <LocalTitle>Test</LocalTitle> <SortTitle>Test</SortTitle> <RunningTime>25</RunningTime> <PlaylistItems> <PlaylistItem> <Path>\\servername\Media\Media\TV\A - F\Adam-12\Season 2\Adam-12 S02E12.mp4</Path> </PlaylistItem> </PlaylistItems> </Item> If I RDP to the Emby server desktop and copy and paste the <path> content into a File Explorer window, the video begins to play locally in Windows Media Player. But in the UI it's an empty playlist. I'm not sure which log files might be relevant to this question. Thanks in advance for any insight or suggestions.
Abobader 3464 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Hello ExOhioGuy, ** This is an auto reply ** Please wait for someone from staff support or our members to reply to you. It's recommended to provide more info, as it explain in this thread: Thank you. Emby Team
Luke 42081 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Hi, is your library still setup using \\servername\Media\Media ? You may need to update the paths in the playlist files to exactly match emby library setup.
ExOhioGuy 1 Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Yes, that is the correct path. I can successfully play the problem files in Windows Media Player or VLC by pasting that path and filename on the Emby server.
Luke 42081 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 It's not a question of whether they work or not in wmp, it's whether the paths in the playlist match emby library setup. What folders have you added in emby library setup?
ExOhioGuy 1 Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Yes, I added each subfolder under "\\servername\Media\Media\TV" folder to the Emby library: \\servername\Media\Media\TV\A - F \\servername\Media\Media\TV\G - M \\servername\Media\Media\TV\N - S \\servername\Media\Media\TV\T - Z Also, if it helps, the episode itself plays successfully in Emby and shows the same location under Media Info: \\servername\Media\Media\TV\A - F\Adam-12\Season 2\Adam-12 S02E12.mp4 MP4 167.6 MB Added 6/14/2023 10:08 PM
Luke 42081 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Did you make sure to run a library scan after editing the playlist xml?
ExOhioGuy 1 Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 I probably did not at the time, but I just did a re-scan now. There was no change. The episode plays if I open the series and select it directly, but is still invisible to any playlist. Not sure it's helpful, the attached screenshot is the playlist associated with the xml shown in my initial post. Interestingly, it does note that it's 25 minutes long, but gives this error if I press "Play."
Luke 42081 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 OK please try refreshing the metadata on the playlist and see if that helps.
