Duplicate Titles

Recently, a large number of duplicate titles/icons have appeared in my 'Movies' library. I have run checks and there are only one copy for each video on my hard drives. This problem does not occur in my ther categories such as TV Shows.

I am using the portable version of Version 4.7.14.0. For some reason, I am unable to install the 'regular' version. I totally deleted the Emby folder and set it up again. Same problem.

How can I fix this? And also, where are my Emby settings stored? When I started after a fresh set up, my old settings were already there.

Regards,

John

Hi Luke,

Thanks for replying. I have attached a screenshot. You will notice that two of the titles are duplicated. I only have ONE copy of each file.

Hi.  What plugins do you have installed?

If you "Edit Metadata" on each of those duplicates, what is shown for the file location in each?

I am not using any plugins. I am working off a fresh install of the portable version. If I right-click on a title, there is no 'edit Metadata' feature.

Hi, make sure the Emby user that you're logged in with has admin privileges. Once you've done that, please try right clicking again. If you still don't' see Edit Metadata, then please show a screenshot of what you do see. Thanks.

I am an Administrator. Attached is a screenshot.

Hi, can you show a screenshot of your user permissions?

Posted

Hi, I mean admin in Emby Server, so the permissions for your emby server user.

Sorry Luke but I don't see where that is. The shot I sent you was the properties in Windows when I right clicked on the Emby folder. Where should I be looking?

Also, as I asked, where is the file where the Emby setting are stored?

When I click on Profile, the attached is what I get. FYI, our Emby is set up under my son's name, Howard. This is the only screen that I get. Also, when I go to change user, there is no way to add a user (no '+').

And for the third time, can someone please tell me where the Emby settings are stored?

Regards,

John

They are in the web interface, but you need to be signed in as an admin user. Howard is not an admin. Who is the admin user on your emby server?

That depends somewhat on exactly what you mean by "settings" but the general answer is in a database.

EBR,
Thanks for your reply. I mean user info, library info, passwords, etc. Is it on the web or is it stored locally? If the info is on my PC, where is that file?
As I said in my first email, I deleted my Emby folder, but when I created a new one, all my info was already there. Is that because it's stored online?

Luke,
The account is probably under my name, but we've been using his name as the user forever. He also has Windows Administrator privileges. The only other user, 'guest', has the same problem.

Hi, windows privileges do not matter. What matters are the permissions in Emby Server Can you change user and sign in as your admin?

No, the result is the same. The Howard & Guest users do not show the permissions and I can not add a user.

What user is the admin user name? By the way to change user, you don't "add user". What I'm asking is that you enter the username and password (if set) of your admin user name.

If it helps make it more clear, instead of clicking "change user", click "sign out" instead.

Those are the only two users that there are. I only brought up 'add user' as a possible alternative, but again the option is not there. I tried changing users and also signing out. On the sign in screen, there are the only two options that I mentioned. I tried manual sign ins, but get the message "Invalid username or password. Please try again".

ONCE AGAIN, WHERE ARE THE SETTINGS/CONFIGURATON FILE(S) STORED?

You're not going to be able to easy edit files by hand so we should try and get you logged in as your emby admin user.

Try using forgot password, and on the next screen, leave the username blank. This will reset the password for all users, and it will list out every user for you. Once you see the list of all user names hopefully you'll be able to spot your admin username in that list. Then you can use that to sign in.

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Followed your instructions and it turned up an old account, John. I signed into it with no password. The duplicates are still there. I still access the permissions through the profile page.

Right of course the duplicates are still there, but is this your admin user? Are you able to edit metadata now?

I have to enter under my name, John, and yes, under that account I can access Edit Metadata. I can not access Permissions or the many of the Profile screens.

This account remains hidden. It does not appear on the login screens. I have to enter it each and every time and it can not be changed.

For some reason. you and EBR seem reluctant to tell me where the settings/configuration files are maintained. I've asked several times. Of course, I know that I can't edit them manually, but I could delete them and start fresh. Are they on my PC or online in your servers??? If they are on my PC, where?

I may change PC's in the near future and I don't to continue with this problem.
