MatthiasM 6 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Hi all I have a little problem understanding what really happen in my LG TV. Since I bought a new one I must learn, that LG won't pay license fees to a cupple of Codec-Developers so the supported codex was reduced. So all the internal TV-Apps included emby won't play longer codecs like DTS-X or TrueHD and must transcode them. I've read all the content about how the LG TV internal works and why emby cannot correct what LG done wrong. And I won't build a workaround by installing an external PC over HDMI to tunnel the Audio trough the TV to my soundbar. Therefore I've did convert all audio tracks that didn't match (e)AC3 to reduce the CPU load of my NAS while playing. Now I reactivate my Netflix account since I've been absend for a while and I see that the Netflix App switch my LG soundbar to Dolby Atmos and I hear all the channels load and clear. It is the same TV emby is running on and the connection of my soundbar is also the same connected to eARC. I am realy lost right now and cannot understand what is the difference between NF and emby. Maybe someone can save me best regards Matthias
SamES 1057 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Have a read of this article, but the short answer is that Netflix (and Emby) can play ATMOS in the lossy format (Dolby Digital+ / EAC3) but not Lossless ATMOS (TrueHD). Please let us know if you still have questions. Atmos on LG TV | Emby Documentation 1
