Emby theater Client stuck on "pause" forever

I've been having the same issue. Happens about every 10m for me. Using Emby Theater on Windows. If I instead cast the files from Emby Theater to an mpv shim I do not have this issue. So it seems entirely to be a client issue.

Every 10m or so playback will just stop and I have to go out of the video and back into it for it to work again. I am using Emby Theater on Windows 11. If I instead cast the same files from Emby Theater to an mpv shim there are no such issues. I have gigabit download speed and a very powerful pc. Also other clients don't have this same issue.

I've attached the beginning of the log file and also from when I started playback till when the issue occurred. I anonymized all IP addresses and domains for privacy. Unfortunately I was not the only one playing a file at the same time so there is also data from another client. The client with the issue is Frost-PC-Win11

Hello, I am seeing this same issue on any desktop clients. Other clients are fine.

Happens every 20 minute or so for me. Perhaps its due to lack of updates which is resulting in bugs like this. Plex clients on other hand have updates every now and then. Anyways, hopefully the development team can take a look. I was about to purchase emby premiere but good thing I haven't pulled the trigger.

It would be helpful if you provided logs covering the time of the failure (it's best to provide the whole log, though).  That would help the devs find why you have these problems that other people do not.

Which Emby Theatre for Windows?  There is the one in the Windows Store, and the one you download from Emby, and they are somewhat different in what they can handle.  Whichever you have, it's probably worth trying the other.

I'm using the one you download from Emby as I've usually found Microsoft Store versions of pretty much every application to be worse. But I can try the Microsoft Store version.

Ah, OK - I must admit that I find the downloaded one better (and use it plenty without a problem); but I did once have an occasion that it went the other way.

Hi, what do you mean by lack of updates? The app is updated in the store several times per month. Or do you just mean related to this issue?

Also to everyone, stay tuned because we are working on a new windows app that will finally unify the store and downloaded versions so that they're both the same thing, with the best features from both together.

I tried the Microsoft Store Version and I actually like it a lot better. It didn't fix my playback issue though. But for some reason it is completely compatible with Jellyfin MPV Shim so I've just been using that. I could kind of use that with the other version of the Emby Client but it didn't support resuming and got confused sometimes. But with the Microsoft Store version I have no issues with Jellyfin MPV Shim. I still have the issue with playback pausing every so often with the native player though

The last windows update for emby theater was in may 3.0.20. Store version doesn't even have full features. It feels like a browser playback. DTS/AC3 audio gets transcoded in Store version. You guys need to update emby theater full version that has mpv integrated

Is there a guide on how to use mpv shim with store version?

Just follow the normal guide from the jellyfin mpv shim page and every time they say jellyfin just replace the word with emby
