How to prevent Emby from breaking my file structure?

Hi,

I'm trying to use Emby to replace univeral media server for sharing movies and series stored on my pc and watch them on my ps4. However, when I add my media drive to emby, it insists on reorganizing my file structure. I want to share my entire hard drive, which is split into Music, Films, Series subfolders. The series subfolder is spit into named series, which are then split into series 1, series 2, series 3 etc subfolders. This file structure is exactly how i want the files to display on the ps4 client, but i am unable to find a setting that prevents the unwanted restructuring. I'm not intrested in adding extra metadata or anything like that. I just want the software to share my drive exactly as is.

I'd appreciate it if I could be pointed in the right direction.

Many thanks

Emby will never touch your filefolder structure nor change it. Can you show an example and share a screenshot of two of how are your files named and organized and what you're seeing so we can get somewhat better idea?

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply, I mean that my files are organised correctly in windows, but when viewed through the client on ps4 or web browser the file structure has been changed, the individual episodes have been removed from their series 1/series 2 subfolders and placed togerther in one folder.

Hope this makes sense. I suspect its a simple setting i'm missing for the formatting, but can't for the life of me find it.

Thanks

Edit: Interestingly, my music folders have been kept correctly, it just appears to be the series folder where this is happening.

What likely happened is that you created TV shows content type library and Emby is trying it's best to identify/match your content with the information available from online databases/providers - what you want is Home Videos & Photos content type library, where no metadata fetching is involved, and use Folders tab once library created.

Ah, perfect. That's resolved it.

Thank you very much for the speedy assistance.

Hi.  While that got you what you wanted, I would encourage you to try using the system as intended and let it organize your items and provide rich metadata.  So much more will be possible then and you might like it :).
