usr115 2 Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 I am very new to networking and servers, and I recently created an Emby server. I am using a Docker image in Unraid 6.12.4 to do this. I have it set up for remote access, so I can use it remotely on different devices. However, using Emby through a browser and the official app has trouble with loading videos. On both the app side and browser, I am having to reload the video multiple times before it will start to play. And it will intermittently pause or stop video playback entirely. This problem seems worse on Apple mobile devices, only getting about 2 minutes into a file before kicking back to the main screen. This is the hardware for my current server. ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME A520M-A II AMD Ryzen 5 4600G with Radeon Graphics @ 3700 MHz Memory: 32 GiB DDR4 MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 I noticed that logs are always the first thing that's asked for in this forum, so I made sure to attach them here. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. It will help me learn more about networking as a whole. hardware_detection-63833837785.txt embyserver.txt
usr115 2 Posted October 29, 2023 Author Posted October 29, 2023 Here to bump this thread. I am still having these issues.
Q-Droid 989 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Can you also post an ffmpeg log from a playback/transcoding session?
usr115 2 Posted October 29, 2023 Author Posted October 29, 2023 Sure thing! This is the most recent one, though during the roughly 2 minutes of playback, it created 5 ffmpeg logs. Let me know if you'd like the other 4 as well! ffmpeg-transcode-1ff308c0-0bda-4053-8b95-f5978435e466_1.txt
Q-Droid 989 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Is this local or remote playback? Does it work well on the LAN? The source and transcoded bitrates for this session are very low and it's able to do the work without problems but should it have to at such a low bitrate? Another thing is that the HW detection throws an error for the RTX 3060 drm device. But it looks like it can still transcode. Someone familiar with nvidia transcoding/setup on Unraid might be able to offer some advice there. Normally this type of error could be due to the groups used in the GIDLIST for the Docker container. They need to match the groups in /dev/dri. But driver versions and container setup need to be right for it to work. Buffering/pausing when the hardware is good enough usually points to unstable or slow network connections, whether mobile or low/saturated upstream bandwidth for the server.
usr115 2 Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 This one is from outside the network. But as for on the LAN, there's regular issues with loading the video at all through the official app. In the browser it will load more frequently. It almost seems like it's not loading at all, as when it doesn't start a video or stops to buffer, there's little to no change in the workload on the CPU and GPU.
Q-Droid 989 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Official app on what device? What does the Emby server User Sessions dashboard show when playing?
usr115 2 Posted October 30, 2023 Author Posted October 30, 2023 It would be for both Android (Pixel Fold) and LG Smart TV
Luke 42077 Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 HI, nothing obvious here. Are you able to try the 4.8 beta server and see how things compare?
