Max Media File Size? Minimum Ram?

Is there a maximum media file size that can be streamed?

 

The reason for the question, I have a few 8GB plus movie files and when I stream them to a ChromeCast device the movie intermittently pauses.

 

My network is a an 802.11n setup and the server has 8GB of ram.

 

If I upgrade my network to an 802.11ac network I don't feel it'll work any better cause ChromeCast isn't 802.11ac compatible.

 

So I'm thinking either the ram in the server needs to be increased or I need to sample my Blu Rays to produce a smaller file size. Any guidelines or standards?

You probably want to just start from the beginning and provide more information on the problem

Chances are server ram won't have much to do with it.

To play, no, because we have tools to convert on the fly if we need to.
