andylee73 1 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Good Afternoon all I have a new Hisense TV that is unable to connect to my server. I have a Samsung TV which has been connected for a long time without problem. Today i also connected my Iphone without any problems by manually entering host and port I manually entered the exact same Host and Port information on my Hisense TV but it cannot find the server. Would anybody have any ideas if i'm doing something wrong ? Thanks.

rbjtech 5284 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Are you putting the full URL in the field - not just the name/or ip ? ie http://192.168.0.100 (or whatever your emby server IP is) ? Also check the TV is on the same wireless LAN or wired LAN as the other devices - it may be on a 'guest' network or something like that ?
andylee73 1 Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Hi Thanks for quick response ! I entered the full URL but it did not work. My dashboard gave LAN as http://192.168.0.35 Just checked the wireless connection on the TV and it is working. The TV IP address is 192.168.0.13 Gateway 192.168.0.1 Not sure if that helps ? The error from my TV is attached
rbjtech 5284 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Hmm strange - can you ping the TV from your emby server ? ie from a command prompt ping 192.168.0.13
andylee73 1 Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 hi tried the ping and it seems unreachable. but i just realised Sky recently put a booster box in another room in the house close to this TV... could it be trying to connect to that ?

Unsure - but if your emby server cannot ping the TV, then the TV is very unlikely to be able to connect to emby .. Something is wrong on a basic network level - I would remove the booster box out the equation for the moment - check, the TV wireless connection is connecting to your main router/Access point - and go from there.
andylee73 1 Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Hi Sorry bit clueless... The TV does appear to be connected to the main router. I logged into Sky Router Admin and found the below. Blue highlight being the Hisense TV and Yellow being Emby i think.. I might be totally wrong. Not sure what to do.
rbjtech 5284 Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 If 192.168.0.35 can ping other devices on your network, but not .13 - then I'm not really sure what to suggest next tbh. It's a single flat network - there really is nothing to go wrong ! If the TV is working for all other internet services, then it's clearly attached to the network ok.. but the fact you cannot ping it is odd. Probably worth removing the wireless connection from the TV and then re-adding it - although it's likely to just pick up the same IP again. Is this wireless or wired ?
andylee73 1 Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Hi Thanks for trying, its mystery... i reset the internet connection on the TV a couple of times. Turned off the PC firewall and still nothing. Strange how i installed the app on the phone and typed in same host and port details and it worked but the Hisense tv wont have it. And i have use the Emby app on the Hisense tv before on there just not for a while. I will try and solve it another day ! 1
