Is this true? What bothers me the most about Infuse is its clunky media browsing interface. Can its beta version now be like the Emby homepage?

This is a very early beta, but Infuse's home screen is very similar to Emby's. In the final version they should be the same.

Any updates on this? Emby still not playing in HDR, meanwhile Infuse with the same content does.

They've been fighting with it for years. Give up already and move to a different eco-system or use Infuse. Even Jellyfin abandoned their crApple TV app.

I use Channels DVR and they don't have a big dev team, but they seemed to be able to get HDR working (along with Dolby Vision) without much hassle.  Not sure what's so hard about it - maybe they just need to find better Apple devs?

I mean with all the changes (for the worse) going on over with Plex, this would be a prime opportunity for Emby to gain some inroads there.

I would recommend using infuse instead. It is a much better player than I can get even on the Nvidia Shield. The only way I was able to get HDR using the emby app is by remuxing the video to mp4 and using the native player. Not worth it imo.

At this point I recomned infuse and jellyfin. I do not see any advantage to pay for emby.

Yeah, it’s the one thing that keeps me from being a paying customer. Infuse and ChannelsDVR will play DV and HDR, Plex will play HDR and fall back from DV to HDR. Emby doesn’t trigger HDR, so the picture has a green tint to it.

I don't think Emby spends much time/support on their Apple clients - they could be doing a lot more with them (and I'd definitely be a paying customer), but as it stands right now I agree with you - don't see much that Emby brings to the table that you can't do with JF and Infuse, especially if you're using Apple hardware.

I unsubscibed from emby after 6 years because I do not see what I exactly support anymore. I dont see any value compared to plex (specially when you are using carplay with plexamp - superior solution), jellyfin+infuse - combo which costs you 0,99$ and you'll have offline playback and everything emby's offering + more. I even have 2FA SSO working with jellyfin.

Hey any updates yet other then just saying it's coming or that it's being looked into? Oh wow.  Just noticed this is two years old.  That doesn't look good for my apple tv issues.  Anyway.....looks like infuse doesn't work on live tv so it isn't a complete solution?

I had to make a complete change over from emby server and apple TV client to channels DVR got all of my TV shows and films imported plays Dolby vision and HDR has virtual channels and best live TV selection I'm not into sharing media over internet so this works for me . Couldn't wait till I was old and grey for emby to get their apple TV app working well , even new test flight version just turn HDR and Dolby vision on auto but mpv player doesn't do proper HDR and Dolby vision it just tone maps to sdr so what is the point in emby app auto turning HDR on when Mpv doesn't read HDR metadata

I am now seeing HDR playback with the latest test flight version, so it seems the wait is over.

take a good look at some hdr movies you will notice mpv still tonemaps to sdr as yet emby mpv dont read hdr metada like plex mpv does sadly after all this time still no good its just enabling hdr mode auto its no different then using old builds and turning hdr mode on in the apple tv settings menu

No it switches on HDR and Dolby vision but mpv player is still tone mapping to sdr emby version of mpv isn't allowing HDR metadata to pass through like in Plex and infused

Agree, was happy for the news, tested and my happy is gone. Infuse still far better. 

Hope they still working in the improve because I still understand why it works on Plex and infuse

I need more testing, I think I tested the wrong file; I've some Imax and HDR versions for the same movie. the improvement is here, that's great

Ok, tried with a personal Star Wars homemade film , so I can clearly see the difference.

On the same TV : Emby for Android TV and Infuse on Apple TV = dark is perfectly Dark. Emby for Apple TV with MPV not totally dark as the two others.

Hope it will be fixed to enjoy using the Emby for Apple TV app, although is not as good as the Android TV (missing subtitles options feature)
