Guest BogartManor Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 My Emby has had duplicate audio files for awhile. It's not all of them, it's random. They have the exact same file path and file name, but it is showing them twice. I removed NFO plugin, and MusicBrainz plug in to ensure it wasn't those plug ins creating the problem. After removing those plug ins, I restarted server. Still had duplicates. I went and removed the library from my server, restarted the server and then set up the library again. Still have duplicate files. Not only that, I've put in alot of working correcting artists to show Artist feat. Artist instead of Artist, Artist. The artists are listed correctly in the metadata and work just fine on other media players. I've gone through and removed Genres. Everytime I make a change, I check the box for "Lock Item to prevent further changes" so they don't revert back. When I removed the library and the readded it to try to clear the duplicates; all the work in the artists and genres reverted back the way it was before. Why check "Lock item to prevent further changes" if it is going to revert everything back?

Then when they get reimported, it's like they're all new again. Can you give an example of a change that you've made to artist feat. ?
Guest BogartManor Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 The artist change is changing them from Jon B,2Pac to Jon B feat. 2Pac. The metadata is right on the file and it shows right on other media players. There are a bunch of duplicates, that is just a screenshot of two of them.
Luke 42080 Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 Can you open the metadata editor for both of those "How do you want it" copies, and capture a screenshot of that? Thanks.
Guest BogartManor Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 I realized the How do you want it; there actually is two different files. That one is my fault. The other one in the screenshot is Are you still down and I'm including the screenshot of the metadata of the file from Windows Explorer showing the properties of the file and how I have the Artists set up showing feat

Luke 42080 Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 @BogartManorActually this is what I really wanted: Quote Can you open the metadata editor for both of those "How do you want it" copies, and capture a screenshot of that? Thanks. I want to zero in on that example because the song titles in Emby are actually different. Thanks.
Guest BogartManor Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I mentioned earlier that I realized those are actually two different files, that's why i included screenshots of the other one
Luke 42080 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Hi, what version of the server are you on?
Luke 42080 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 OK, I'm not sure why this is happening, but I'm sure it will no longer happen again with the upcoming 4.8 server release. What you could try in the meantime is to remove your music library altogether, wait for the scan to finish to clean out the database, and then add it back. Please see if that helps. Thanks.
Guest BogartManor Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 ive already tried doing that once
Luke 42080 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 OK, we are close to releasing Emby Server 4.8. If you were to do a fresh install with that once available, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't happen again. Thanks.
Guest BogartManor Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Fresh install and set up everything all over again or just that library? Will there be some kind of notice sent out to everyone once the new server releases so we know when and to update?
Luke 42080 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Quote Will there be some kind of notice sent out to everyone once the new server releases so we know when and to update? There will be a blog announcement, so stay tuned for that. I would first try a direct upgrade and see if you get lucky and a library scan is able to clean out the dead entries (doubtful though). But you never know. After that you can do a fresh install of the server if you wish. If you're going to do that, then maybe wait another week or two for us to put out the inevitable 4.8.1/4.8.2 maintainance updates.
